THE END OF AN ERA 6PERUVIAN CHACHAPOYA 5110 IMPR98 JANUARY 1, 1997 – MAY 27, 2015 How do you write an obituary for an alpaca….by first talking about his background and then what he meant to you. Chachapoya or “Chach” as we liked to call him came from the famous Don Julio Barreda’s, “Estancia Accoyo Ranch” in Peru. He was in the last importation of Accoyo Suri Alpaca in 1998 and he was hand selected by Don Julio Barreda to come to the United States. He spent most of his life on a farm that mostly bred huacayas so he was seldom used, to this day his bloodline remains rare. His life thereafter remains shrouded in mystery and scandal as he was sold and then repossessed on a foreclosure. Scott and I of Alpacas of El Dorado purchased a female to be specifically bred to this rare herdsire…but he disappeared before we could get her pregnant. Only to find out later that he was purchased by Pucara International Stud, by our friends, Al Cousel and Jude Anderson. We were beyond excited when we were able to purchase a half interest in this male and also bring on a third partner, Dale Davis of Derwydd Alpacas. And thus became my love affair with this truly magnificent alpaca. He is the “Warrior”, truly his eyes have seen more than mine. He was well traveled and accustomed to fitting in to his setting. We felt honored when he came to our ranch to live out his days. Still breeding until just a month ago, he was always loud and boisterous whenever he was allowed to do his job. There are few of us who have the honor of continuing his genetics in their breeding programs by having one or two of his offspring. I say hold these alpacas close to you….the genetics will always be rare and fine. Just recently Chachapoya won a 2nd in Get of Sire Suri at Alpacas Fest West and a 1st Place in Get of Sire Suri Light at the California Classic…..his genetics live on…. Hold on to a piece of history… Right to his end he held his stance, his luster, his look of eagles. It was an absolute honor in knowing him. We see him everyday in his offspring and wish him well, as we know he is with Bruxo, Ganador, Torbio and others…..who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge before him.

Co-owned with Jack and Kelly Armstrong of PureSuri Breeding Company Here is another stunning example of the cross between PureSuri and Pucara. PureSuri herd is the best example we can give of a superb breeding philosophy. The Armstrongs, formerly Latah Creek, dominated the suri show ring with, amongst others, their Inca line white suris and it was artistry in the making when we combined the lines of Latah Creek with those of Pucara Kahuna. Lexus was at the top of the class in our 2013 drop. He has grown out with exceptional density combined with fineness and who we have used extensively since spending his 2015 breeding season in Colorado at Goldyn Rae Alpacas. The production there verified our hopes for him to produce to the excellence of his line! He shows off a stunning head on a well conformed frame but its the fleece that spanks of his royal lineage. It is exactly what we breed for. High luster, in fact luster to burn! It is fine and dense and displays nice independence of locking with that buttery greasy handle that we love to see in our program. In March 2014 he tested at 18.6m 3.9sd 20.9cv Sired by none other than the five times Futurity Light Herdsire of the Year Pucara Kahuna, his mother also comes from immaculate lineage. PureSuri Lexus is a daughter of one of the densest males we have ever seen, LCA Viho (Inca son) and her dam is a Snowmass Ice Dancer daughter that is infused with the superior genetics of Uribe and Ganador. We have been stoked with the production from Lexus. We were offering him for sale but we don't think so any more! The cria have had blazing luster with density that is so hard to achieve. He has taken a very important place in our ET program. We are of course selling breedings. He will compliment your suri program with all the suri fleece traits that we admire.

Description

DONOR FEMALE FOR THE PUCARA ET PROGRAM Pucara produced Kalea by using a male, 6P Chachapoya (Accoyo), with her prepotent dam Kahuna's Coco Ho. Coco Ho being a champion in the show ring and the dam of 2016 Futurity Judges Choice female, Wyuna's Abigail. Also the dam of Madiba's Leilani a first ribbon winner at the Futurity but right up there with the best females we have ever produced. The purpose was to breed Chachapoya with our Kahuna line females to add hybrid vigor via outcross to this already prepotent line.. thus Chachapoyas WCF Kalea represents the unique combination of genetics that we have pursued to enhance our Suri breeding program, that is, the combination of Pucara Kahuna and 6Peruvian Chachapoya. Both Accoyo. Testament to that idea is that Emma Lou, Kalea's 2013 daughter sired by Pucara PureSuri Madiba has become a donor female for us in the ET program. She has inherited the frame and the abundance of luster of Madiba, a descendent of famous Latah Creek genetics. Madibas sire, LCA Viho was recognized by Alonso Burgos of Grupo Inca, Peru, as the densest Suri he'd ever seen, and he's seen thousands of Suri males! Madibas dam is the famous Silkworm, in our estimation one of the top five Suri stud females in the history of the US Suri industry. Kalea did it again with another Madiba cria, WCF Madiba's Charlie who was an IAO champion. Kalea's prepotent fleece orientated Suri genetics are expressed in her amalgamation of excellent traits. She is fine, with great luster and lock independence on a well built, correct frame with a true to type Suri head. Discerning breeders would welcome Kalea genetics to their breeding program. She is the result of a well thought out but rare combination of genetics that has produced outstanding cria. Pictures of the 2013 daughter Emma Lou tell the story! We would suggest a breeding to one of our Madiba line stud males to emphasize all that luster that he brings.
