Like the tempest, Stormy flashes and resonates like lightning and thunder. His genetics and phenotype are strong like hurricane force winds. Stormy makes a stunning first impression—he is large and imposing, but with a quiet and sweet personality. Fineness, density, conformation, character, staple length, coverage, crimp--Stormy has them all and show judges have confirmed it!! His fleece is extremely bright, fine, dense, and crimpy. Stormy is following in the footsteps of his bay black half-brother, 10x Champion Rumm Runner. Stormy's sire, MFI Peruvian Black Mesquite, has had limited outside breedings, which makes getting access to these championship lines a challenge. Stormy's lighter color comes from his great grandsire PPPeruvian Augusto; the rest of Stormy's genetic background includes blacks and browns. His first crias are on the ground, in many colors, and all have inherited Stormy's fantastic fleece character! Stormy took 1st Place, Halter at the 2008 Ohio Buckeye Show and the 2008 MAPACA Jubilee!! Tim Lavan said that Stormy had the best brightness, most consistent fleece coverage, and had consistent crimp throughout. At his first show (Level V 2008 Indiana), Stormy earned second, with Peter Kennedy stating that his fleece was finer and had more character than the first place alpaca. At the 2008 Kentucky Classic, Stormy placed second in his class, to the eventual color champion, and Jill McLeod said, "both animals are very strong and these breeders will do well with these animals. They both are well-conformed, have density, fineness, staple length, character." Stormy's dam, Tropical Delight (1/4 Accoyo), also gave birth to 10X Color/Reserve Champion herdsire Rumm Runner, and at the 2008 Buckeye Show, Stormy and Runner delivered 1st in "Produce of Dam" for Tropical Delight! With Augusto, Donovan, Matador, and Black Mesquite in Stormy's background, he is carrying on the tradition of ribbons in the show ring, and we expect him to have a great breeding career.

Dam: Rosalind Franklin

Loveable 1/2 Accoyo Rose Grey!

Rosalind Franklin

HuacayaOpen (Female)Medium Rose Grey
AOA# 31126199DOB: 10/5/200816 yrs
Rosie is a cute girl with a mischievous but extremely friendly personality. Much like her mother, she loves to be around people and has been the top PR animal on our farm when she is open! Rosie has been nicknamed “Stonewall” due to her desire to stand between you and the herd when you are taking photos. She is VERY photogenic. Rosie is a classic rose grey out of a solid bay black dam and a fawn sire with vicuna shading. She has nice square conformation and is a compact adult like her mother. Also like her mother, Rosie is an easy birther and a great mom with lots of milk for her crias. Rosie’s fleece is very soft and dense. She continues to be a reliable and consistent producer for us. Rosie is half Accoyo by lineage. Her paternal grandsire is the legendary Pperuvian Timoteo, while her maternal grandsire is the renowned Pperuvian Felix. From Estancia Accoyo of Peru, Timoteo and Felix were two of the elite group of males imported in 1994 that included Caligula, Victor, Vengador, Leon, Terror, Camilio, and Pluro. A half Accoyo classic rose grey is not an easy thing to find. This is a great opportunity to add these genetics to your herd. Rosie is named after Rosalind Franklin, who was the first scientist to recognize the helical shape of DNA molecules through her X-ray diffraction studies. Her work was passed on to James Watson and Francis Crick, who along with Maurice Wilkins, a coworker of Dr. Franklin, shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine for reporting the discovery of the DNA double helix. Dr. Franklin's work was built into Watson and Crick's detailed description of DNA, but she has never received official credit for her contribution to the discovery, in large part because of her early passing at age 37 from cancer. Rosie gave birth in fall 2011 to a cute dark brown little girl named Ruthie out of our champion male SA Peruvian Noche Negro. She gave birth in fall 2012 to a beautifully fleeced light fawn cutie named Tatiana out of our multi-ribbon winning Mesquite's Tropical Storm. In August 2013, Rosie made it three in a row--another beautiful baby girl named CeCe, a bay black out of our own Conan's Phenomenon. Rosie’s crias are for sale under their own listings.

Service Sire: MFI Toledo

Mr. Know It All Grey!

MFI Toledo

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Dark Silver Grey
AOA# 845793DOB: 4/14/200321 yrs
HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Toledo is the densest alpaca to ever reside on our farm. He has been the signature stud on our herdsire row for many years now. A multi champion in the show ring, Toledo is compact with excellent conformation and stunning fleece. He still maintains fantastic character at age 13! He is so dense that he sometimes doesn’t come in when it’s raining because his fleece is way too dense for him to feel the water! Toledo walks like a prince and knows his job. You can call him in from the field when it is time to breed. Toledo’s bloodlines are rare, especially in a grey alpaca. Best of all, he has sired champions. He has two champion grey sons in Colorado who are now siring champions of their own. Don’t be put off by his age--Toledo can still do his job and has many years left in his breeding career. His progeny show how relevant his genetics still are in the American herd. Toledo is an exceptional candidate for ANY farm’s herdsire row! It would be a shame for him not to be able continue to produce the stunning crias he has proven that he can sire time after time. We are looking forward to the crias out of his son Pierre, and his daughter Mayana who is now on our foundation herd. Now is your chance to acquire a truly exceptional herdsire! We call Toledo “the Ace,” and for good reason. Toledo indeed is our ace, the epitome of an exceptional, elite stud—with champion progeny, and a couple of banners himself. He has already proven that he can throw champion crias—this is well established. Toledo and his outstanding genetics are something to be cherished. We are thrilled to have Toledo's bloodlines, which are very rare east of the Mississippi, to our grey and black breeding program--and proud to be able to offer them to you! In his limited show career, Toledo competed very well. He earned blue ribbons in halter classes, and he also received an unofficial "third" place in a championship class of 47 - having been sandwiched with the renowned Bisturi as Julio Sumar was determining the Reserve Champion at GWAS 2005. (ATV Adonnis had been selected Color Champion.) In 2006, Mike Safley commented enthusiastically about his fleece at GWAS, awarding him 2nd place, with first place again going to ATV Adonnis. At the same show, Toledo was awarded grey Color Champion. Toledo is typey, with a gorgeous head and a perfect bite. His fleece character and density are OFF The Charts! The picture of his fleece shown here was at 4 years of age! Toledo’s crias include some stars: Argenta Granite (owned by Argenta Alpacas): Granite won the Grey Color Championship at the TxOLAN Alpaca Show in February 2012. Chimera’s Orion Grey (owned by Chimera Ranch): Champion at the National Western and Reserve Color Champion grey at Mid-America. Though he is a compact male, Toledo has excellent conformation and coverage (and a fine personality to boot). His fleece is absolutely stunning. He has extreme density and gorgeous crimp.

Description

Out of farm favorite Rosie, Tatiana has very interesting coloring-- she is either a very light classic rose grey, or a very faint light fawn vicuna pattern. Tatiana has a similarly friendly and curious personality as her dam and grand dam. This is a heritable trait. Tatiana has fantastic genetics and fleece with character, but could use improvements in her overall phenotype. Tatiana's pedigree rivals any huacaya in the industry, including the very recognizable names PPPeruvian Augusto, Rosario, Pperuvian Timoteo, PPeruvian Felix, MFI Peruvian Donovan, 4Peruvian Matador, and MFI Peruvian Black Mesquite. Her background contains lights, darks, and greys, so we believe Tatiana will be able to throw crias of all colors, depending on service sire. Tatiana is named for Tatiana Afanaseva (or Tatyana Afanasyeva), who was a Russian/Dutch mathematician. She was born in Kiev, Ukraine, then a part of the Russian Empire. After her father died she was brought up by an uncle in St Petersburg, Russia, where she attended a Women's College. Tatiana collaborated closely with her husband, Paul Ehrenfest, an Austrian physicist, most famously on their classic review of the statistical mechanics of Boltzmann. She published many papers on various topics such as randomness and entropy. We have made the difficult decision to offer Tatiana for sale as a pet, fiber, or companion animal. She is good on the halter and very curious; with work she should be a wonderful 4H animal, or can simply be part of a pet or fiber herd. Alpacas are herd animals and cannot be kept alone without other members of their species, therefore we offer all of our pet animals for sale in sets of two or more--at BOGO pricing. Tatiana is being offered for sale with her friend Abella for a total of $150. Tatiana and Abella, both nice girls with good fiber, are being sold as a set of pets for a total of $150. (BOGO pricing.) These girls are younger animals--they are just under three and two years of age, respectively--but both do not fit our breeding program due to their light color and conformation. These girls will make a wonderful pair of pets for the family wishing to acquire its first alpacas, or would be ideal as companions in a larger female herd. Both have 4H and/or halter show experience on the halter, and with a bit of practice would make wonderful 4H animals.
