Eastwind's Blade

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Brown
AOA# 30502710DOB: 6/17/200618 yrs
We were looking for PPeruvian Victor genetics when we found and selected Blade for our breeding program. GENETICS: Blade's sire is Victor's Hemiaccoyo Viking making his grandsire the great PPeruvian Victor. The bonus with Blade are the color genes coming in from his dam's lineage. She is a true black. PHENOTYPE: Blade is a striking medium brown. His conformation is solid, straight, and compact. His face is nicely accented with black points on his ears and muzzle. His beautifully colored fleece displays very good handle, fineness, and density. TEMPERAMENT: We believe temperament is highly inheritable and place a big emphasis on it especially in the herdsires. Blade is quiet and easy to handle. PROOF IS IN PROGENY: We hear the phrase the "proof is in the progeny " so often that it may start sounding like a cliche however.....the histogram results are back on Blade Runner a TRUE BLACK and all we can say is WOW. "Runner" was sheared as a cria and these results are from the 2011 shear: AFD 19.6, SD 4.2, CV 21.5, %>30u 1.2. And this was from a girl sporting an AFD of 32.2. Blade's 2011 cria is a medium fawn full brother to Blade Runner. Marquee is carrying the same fiber characteristics of Blade Runner including great staple length. Blade's 2012 is a white male from our light fawn Faeteza of Somerset Farm. Tezzla's (aka Tazz) conformation is solid, straight, and compact. He is exceptionally dense with great staple length.

Lingering Fineness Genetics

Faeteza of Somerset Farm

HuacayaOpen (Female)Light Fawn
AOA# 30476806DOB: 6/18/200717 yrs
Look at this genetic combination...Grandsire 5Peruvian Chaccu, GGrandsires Peruvian Don Julio, Peruvian Bueno, and PPeruvian Vengador. Look at the result of breeding our best fleece production foundation female to our densest and heaviest fleece producing herdsire. Faeteza's feece is dense and bundled...check out the picture on the right. What you are looking at is a complete package...great genetics, solid conformation, pleasing phenotype, excellent proportions and balance, desirable fleece architecture and structure, density, bundling, and excellent staple length. If it sounds like this girl has it all she does...plus an excellent temperament. We had great expectations Faeteza (AKA Teza) would contribute the same qualties to our breeding program as her dam Paradise Ridge Chaccuna. And did she ever...easy breeder, easy birth, plenty of milk. Faeteza has produced two outstanding cria for us. Both exhibiting exceptional density and fineness. When bred to a herdsire with lingering fineness the results have been fine and uniform fleece. LINGERING FINENESS COMING FROM HER DAM AND EXHIBITED IN HER HALF BROTHERS Following is the description of her dam's measurable fleece qualities...the potential is there. MEASURABLE FLEECE QUALITIES: This is where Chaccuna (Teza's dam) excels and what keeps her at the top of our Huacaya foundation female list. Talk about lingering fineness. At 12 years old her histogram results are note worthy: AFD 25.8, SD 4.9, CV 18.8 , SF 24.7, %>30 15. At 12 years old her EPD results show it is predicted she will reduce the AFD by -0.0938 And it doesn't stop there. Her daughter Faeteza is shown to reduce AFD by -0.425. Here are the results for Chaccuna's seven year old son beige son (ChaccuLatte) we have standing at our ranch: 2013 EPD Results: Top 1% %F>30 -8.246 0.453 77 of 14637 Top 3% AFD -1.877 0.425 238 of 14637 Top 3% SF -1.798 0.448 330 of 14637 Teza comes with a breedback (for her or any of your females) to any Alpacas of Somerset Farm herdsire. We invite you to call (530-620-6033) for more information and to check out our web site (www.alpacasofsomersetfarm.com) to learn about the benefits of working with us on your alpaca purchases and breedings. Description

We anticipated the crossing of Eastwind's Blade (Victor Grandson) with our genetic powerhouse Faeteza (Grandsire 5Peruvian Chaccu, GGrandsires Peruvian Don Julio, Peruvian Bueno, and PPeruvian Vengador) would produce a spectacular cria and we were not disappointed. Well, just a little. We were hoping for color. Tazz is another example of the influence of Chaccuna, our light foundation female. Both of her sons (CF Cuzco and ChaccuLatte) are standing at Alpacas of Somerset Farm and producing cria that are definite improvements over the dam. Her daughter Faeteza is Tazz's dam. All the crias from Chaccuna's line have a distinct look that can be traced back to the grand dam herself. Tazz's histogram results. AFD 15.4, SD 4.9, CV 29.2, SF 16.2, %>30u 1.0 "Steal of a deal" if you are looking for a prospective herdsire. The only reason Tazz is being sold at this price is because he is related to most of the females we will be breeding in 2015. NOTE: We will keep the alpacas a maximum of three months for no boarding fee if you need to prepare a place for them at your home.
