AML Legacy's Accoyo Leonardo

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Beige
AOA# 848970DOB: 10/2/200321 yrs
Leonardo's crias began to arrive in 2006, and he is consistently passing on his overall "look" and stunning fiber. Leonardo's first cria, in 2006, AML Nobility has had a phenomenal show record: Five Color Championships, three Reserve Color Championships, and nine blue ribbons; plus Judge's Choice and Best Crimp at the 2009 MAPACA as a two-year-old And other of his crias have shown well too: **AML Susanah (grey): One Color Championship **Pine Hill’s Crème Brulee (medium fawn): Three first places, one second place **Calidad Cruise Control (white): Three second places, one third place (in highly competitive white male juvie classes) **Calidad Roxanne: One first place (only show) You won't find many other working males with histogram results to compare to Leonardo's. Leonardo's micron count at 5 years of age is only 21.6, and as you can see from the annual histograms below on the left, his statistics have remained the same for four years in a row (since he was a yearling)! One of our primary breeding goals is fineness that lasts as the alpaca ages, and Leonardo is helping us achieve that goal. Leonardo is one of very few full Accoyo sons of 4P Legacy, now deceased, a herdsire who was legendary for his fiber remaining very fine past ten years of age and for producing highly prized offspring. With 4Peruvian Legacy as his sire and Accoyo Grand Master daughter as his grandsire, Leonardo has spectacular lineage. He has beautiful, fine, bright, soft, crimpy, consistent fleece. Solid bone, a pleasing head, and all-around excellent conformation complete the picture of a top herdsire. One judge described him at 3-1/2 years old as a "superb male." A half interest in Leonardo is for sale. I plan to retain the other half interest. Fleece samples and histograms are available for multiple years.

Dam: Frieda

Frieda

HuacayaOpen (Female)Beige
AOA# 841320DOB: 8/26/200222 yrs
Frieda is a 2-time Color Champion and 4-time blue ribbon winner. One of Evander's first crias, Frieda helped her sire win his first Get of Sire ribbons. Frieda has a soft handle and incredible density to her fleece--and she looks like Evander's clone. The crimpy character of her fleece is uniform across her whole body. She also may be the densest female I've seen--her unskirted fleece weight was over 9 pounds at age 5 years! This likely puts her in the top 1% of female alpacas, based on fleece weight alone. Frieda is an easy keeper (never a health issue), easy breeder and a super mom. She has produced three high-placing, show-quality crias in a row. She is a star producer. Frieda's 2005 cria is a beautiful fawn female named Calidad Chelsea, sired by Pinnacle, the award-winning son of Accoyo Powerball and Mulowe. Frieda's 2007 cria was a wonderful white male, Calidad Cruise Control, sired by our full Accoyo herdsire, AML Legacy's Accoyo Leonardo. Cruise Control has placed high in very competitive white juvenile halter classes, including three Level V shows. His full sibling, the light fawn Calidad Santa Fe (born in 2008 and since sold), has begun to have a similarly top record in the show ring. Frieda gave birth to a white female cria on August 1, 2009 named Calidad SuperCal's Athena, sired by CCNF SuperCalifragilistic. Just beautiful!

Description

Santa Fe is a nice, compact male. He decends from very strong genetics. His award winning dam is from Evander and his sire is from the legendary 4Peruvian Legacy. I love his fleece--it is what every breeder and hand spinner strives for. He has absolutely beautiful brightness in his "peachy" colored light fawn fleece. He demonstrates superb density and a consistent crimp structure top to bottom and front to back, even going up his neck and into his top knot. He is super fine. He has settled his first females. Add Santa Fe to your breeding program today. He gets better with age.
