Green Vale Darla

From a Champion sire, Darla has a strong pedigree. Darla is a great mother with good bone and a sweet personality. She is 'pretty as a picture' in your pasture - and will produce ciras to be proud of. Get a 'rainbow' of alpaca colors! Registered as beige, Darla is almost a light fawn, with the color pattern ('varigated' and darker along the topline, shading to a white belly) that top grey breeder, Dr. Neil Padgett of A Paca Fun Farm in Maryland, says tends to produce grey. A Paca Fun has produced numerous Champion greys over the past 14 years, so we tend to trust Dr. Padgett's opinion. According to Dr. Andy Merriwhether PhD, a geneticist and alpaca breeder, Darla carries the black gene from her mom, and will produce black. Other experienced breeders say you can expect the full spectrum of alpaca colors from a female like Darla (depending on which male she is bred to, of course). Pedigree: This pedigree is full of color. Darla's sire, CB Basillio is a son of 4Peruvian Wira Cocha and out of daughter of Kenamori Gold - two males retained by Earlah Swift for Mariah Alpacas. Along with 4Peruvian White Wizzard and PPP Inca, these males were the kingpin's of the Mariah Alpacas herd. Basillio's dam, PPPeruvian Gigi, well known for her exceptional beauty, was one of the best producers for the Mariah herd. Darla's dam is the beautiful BLACK Skyeview Sabra, full sister to the stunning 2X Champion Skyeview Stargazer. Sabra has produced some lovely crias for Green Vale, with soft-as-silk fleeces. Most of Sabra's crias have been 'black black': true 'jet-black' non-fading with no other colors in the blankets. Darla has an interesting pattern that suggests that she would easily produce grey offspring! With a true black dam, the color possibilites with Darla are endless...

Praising his fineness, crimp, and DENSITY, over a class of exceptional males from 3-7 years of age - including Champions - Safely awarded Bolero the Blue at 12! - Carrie Hull, Certified Sorter/fiber grader, graded Bolero's 13th fleece on shearing day at Sixth Day Farm May 12, 2009: Grade 2 (Baby') secondaries AND primaries (!) with high scores for crimp, density, brightness, and handle. After more than a decade of managing & showing for a major farm, Carrie became a sorter. She grades thousands of fleeces each year, examining every handful. "Primaries nearly identical to the secondaries in micron and crimp..." - Jim Cocking, Low Stress Alpaca Transport & Kentucky Criations, a nationally respected breeder and alpaca transporter. When he saw Bolero in his 12th fleece on May 11th, 2008, he said, "I've hauled some of the best older males in the business all over the country, and none of them had a fleece anywhere near as nice as this!" - Carol Karsten, Hidden Hill Farm, (breeder of 2009 White Male Futurity Champion ’Dually’), asked when she saw Bolero’s 11th fleece, “What cria is this from?” She refers to Bolero as ‘unique’, and booked four females to him. Description

Anna is a very nice show quality alpaca. No wonder - her sire and mom's sire are both champions! Big and beautiful, Anna got what it takes but did not get her chance in the show ring - but think of what she can produce when bred to your favorite herdsire! Check her pedigree, then come check her out. You will be impressed with her quality. We are working on getting photos of our alpacas. In the meantime, the photos here show you the quality of the alpacas behind Anna. **Anna comes with a breeding to Maple Brook Bolero, or any other unrestricted male soley owned by Inti Alapcas, llc.** Fleece: Her fiber is fine and bright, with the excellent crimp style that helped her sire win Championships for her sire. She has the 'stamped in' kind of crimp you can feel. We've been told that we should show her fleece, but with so much to do around the farm... you know how that goes! Sire: MFI Peruvian Ensign is an excellent example of the Magical Farms breeding program. Located in Ohio, Magical is now the largest alpaca farm in the United States. Ensign is passing along his strong bone, and full face & leg fiber coverage to his offspring. Best of all, his crias are inheriting the fleece qualities that won Championships in National-level competition. Grandsire, Donovan, has been a success in the show ring and as a sire for Magical Farms. He is a featured male on their famous 'Herdsire Row'. Donovan's show record: 1st - AOBA National Show 2001 Fleece - Huacaya Fawn 25-36 months 3rd - North American Alpaca Fleece Show 2002 Fleece - Huacaya 2-Year-old Brown/Fawn Fleece 1st - Northern Illinois Alpaca Extravaganza (NIAE) 2002 Fleece - Huacaya - 2yr Old & Mature Fawn 1st - AOBA National Convention Fleece Show 2004 - 5-YR+ Male Fawn CHAMPION - AOBA National Convention Fleece Show 2004 - Fawn Males 1st - AOBA National Conference 2005 Fleece Show - Huacaya Fawn Mature Male E Dam: Darla is the daughter of a Champion, no wonder she is a good looking alpaca, and a wonderful producer of the kind of cria we all hope for. Good alpacas come from good family lines, and this one is solid through and through. See her listing for more info. Note: Anna's pedigree is actually 15/16ths Peruvian lineage. Open Herd does not offer listing fractions that small. k5/7
