Taupie is our handsome up-and-coming appaloosa herdsire. He has a spotted face, spotted feet, spotted legs, and several spots throughout his blanket. His topline is a nice medium rose grey, then blending into light rose grey down the sides to a beige belly. Under his chin and on his belly and legs are rich, dark fawn, appaloosa spots. He is very crimpy, quite dense, and extremely cute! He has a super long staple length, with high frequency, medium amplitude crimp, and extreme brightness (looks like mother of pearl!). His coverage is massive, from his full, Accoyo head style, to his tree trunk legs with fleece right down to the hooves! His heritage--from Aussie Rockford (with Hannahruh), Socosani, and Chiquita--is full of appaloosa genetics. Crossing him with our other appaloosa lines should produce a whole new era of appaloosas, allowing our herd to continue to be the "Go to" place for appaloosa huacaya genetics.

Appalucy is the appaloosa color/pattern that we love, so she is really not for sale at all. Born to two of our favorites, Lucy has the calm personality that both her parents show. She also has their square conformation and terrific fleece. We hope she'll live a long life here on our farm and pass those terrific genes on to several similarly marked offspring, all of which have her calm and sweet disposition. Bred to Bodacious, Appalucy's first cria is due in May 2012 If you like the looks of Lucy and would like to include an appy or two in your herd, you may want to consider some possibilities from our herd: 1. A breeding to any of our three appaloosa males, all very unrelated. 2. A proven female bred to one of our appy males. Females such as Splash, Betty, or Camelita can produce appies when bred to an appy male. 3. A maiden bred to an Enchanted Hill appy male. These maidens include Ava or Laboria. Actually, Athena could all be a genetic appaloosa but is too dark to show the typical appy spots. Athena, Celia, and Stella are all bred to Bodacious and are pregnant (confirmed by ultrasound). Give us a call and we'll figure out any of the genetic combinations you'd like.

Description

Here is a striking appaloosa male that has a good chance of being homozygous for the appaloosa gene. This is the first cria from Vintage Cashmere's U-Taupe-Ia, a male with appaloosas on both sides of the family (Hannaruh and Chiquita). LuTau's dam is the amazingly-patterned appaloosa, Enchanted Hill Appalucy, who also has appies on both sides of the family (Maria's Angle and Xus). If anyone is already breeding for the appaloosas, or is even considering breeding for this unusual pattern, LuTau needs a close look! Give us a call or drop us an email for more photos, a video, or more information.
