Congratulations to Derwydd Alpacas for honoring Zeppelin with a place on their esteemed herd sire row. Zeppelin is no longer available for outside breedings at Delphi Alpacas. **Zeppelin is the 2013 AOBA National Black Male Fleece COLOR CHAMPION** This with his 4th fleece - the judges do enjoy rewarding older fleeces that retain superb qualities. Congratulations to Snowmass Alpacas on their purchased of one black Zeppelin daughter, plus 3 of our black females bred to Zeppelin; as well as another female bred to him from a client's farm. We'll be watching for his genetics under the Snowmass name. Zeppelin's first baby to ever show, fawn Zeppelin's Rainsong, purchased by The Alpaca Group, won a color championship at her first show! We are honored that Zeppelin's genetics have also been chosen by Pacific Crest Alpacas / Accoyo America. Histogram's: 5-2-09: AFD 15.7 / SD 2.8 / CV 18.0 / 0.2 % >30 6-9-10: AFD 16.9 / SD 2.9 / CV 16.9 / 0.4% >30 5-9-11: AFD 17.7 / SD 3.3 / CV 18.4 / 0.8 % >30 5-11-12: AFD 19.8 / SD 3.9 / CV 19.7 / 2.1% >30 Shearing Weight 2009: 6 pounds total = 7.2 pounds annualized. 2010: 9.5 pounds total = 8.75 pounds annualized 2011 = 10.1 pounds annualized 2012 = 10.8 pounds annualized Zeppelin is throwing lots of black. From black based dams his early production totals were: From 8 TB dams he has thrown 3 TB, 1 DSG, 3 BB, and 1 DF cria. From 2 BB dams he threw 1 BB and 1 LF cria. From 4 Silver greys (black base) he threw 3 TB and 1 MB. But regardless of color - with Zeppelin it's ALL about the fleece quality - for example look at his daughter Tessla's fleece at lower right - she sold for $18,000 at auction, after being awarded CC, Best Brightness and Best Hand at the Alpacamania Fleece Show. Tessla's yearling histogram: AFD 12.7, SD 2.0, CV 15.6, %>30 0.0. (!!) My pick of our entire litter last year was his daughter Deltana - a fawn with the kind of fleece we dream of. Congratulations to Bari Padgett on her purchase of Deltana! Zeppelin's dad, Taos, a stunning Legacy son, had a 22.9 AFD at 7 yrs. Zeppelin's mom tested at 21.3 AFD at 7 years as well. Zeppelin also offers correct conformation, impressive presence, size, coverage, and substance of bone. His crimp, luster and dense lock structure are stunning - staple length is extreme. Zeppelin is full Peruvian and 3/8 Accoyo. We thank David and Julie Wroblewski for allowing us to add Zeppelin to Delphi Alpacas' herd sires.

I know, I know - we do Color! But we couldn't help ourselves. Two reasons - 1) Check out this fleece - - - And it isn't just pretty, She has great fineness, And she has the fleece weight too. 2) Check out her pedigree - Her daddy is Black Pinot Noir - and mom, a Camillio daughter, is loaded with color too. How often do the winners of the best white classes have black daddies? I've seen it a time or two - and as we improve our colors it happens more and more frequently. This lady offers a level of fleece quality that I am extremely excited about combining with the likes of Zeppelin - for starters. ;^) Update - she just delivered a Gorgeous beige Zeppelin son - You will see him in the winner's circle! He is phenomenal - I can't keep my hands off of him. She will be bred back to Zeppelin for her 2013 cria - you can't have too many of these! Awards Received Futurity 2010-3rd Place (class of 11), Halter CABA Classic 2010-FIRST Place, Halter (class of 13) National Fleece Show - 5th Place (class of 8) 20 out of 20 points for fineness and handle. 9 out of 10 for character and brightness, 4.5 out of 5 for density. Estes Park Fleece Show - (same fleece) FIRST Place, class of 4, BEST CRIMP over all huacayas. 5-9-11 = AFD 18.3 / SD 4.0 / CV 21.6 / 0.9 >30 5-11-12 = AFD 19.9 / SD 4.3 / CV 21.4 / 2.7% >30

Description

** You must ask for a fiber sample on this one - stunning. ** son of black Zeppelin ** His rock star mom is a black Pinot Noir daughter. ** he'll throw color and excellent fleece too! Hamal looked very impressive indeed in his class of 11 at GWAS - and Wade Gease loved his overall look and especially his very soft uniform hand, awarding him 5th place in a class of 11 exceptional beige males (which was won by the eventual Light Color Champ). The advantage Hamal has over the rest of his class, that no judge can see? LOTS of dark color genetics that make him perfect for a color program! Put him over your black females and expect lots of color in his offspring, with those exceptional fleece qualities. As you open Hamal's fleece you are struck by very well defined high amplitude, high frequency character, super bright fleece of great apparent density. And it certainly is soft - testing at AFD 16.6 / SD 3.7 / CV 22.4 / 0.7% >30 on 4/4/13 (almost 7 mos. old). Hamal's dad Zeppelin is bay black. Hamal's mom Abilene is a white rock star, blue ribbon winner (halter class of 13) plus Best Crimp winner - and Her dad is Black Pinot Noir. So lots of black in this boy's pedigree, plus extreme fleece quality on both sides. Hamal's mom has recently been sold and exported out of the U.S. She will have her next Zeppelin cria in Canada this summer. SOLD
