Comet is a 7 time banner winner and is the result of combining some great genetics. His sire is Black Beau of PVA. Comet is from the Mahogany Prince to Kobe to Diamonte to Black Beau line of champion PVA genetics. Black Beau inherited great fleece statistics. Black Beau had EPDs that improved AFD, SDAFD, SF, %>30, MSL, and FW. It was expected that he'd improve every measurable aspect of a fleece in his progeny. Black Beau also had the most beautiful Suri conformation to pass on to his offspring. Comet's dam was sired by Saladin, a bay black that produced champion offspring including the true black male Psylent Knight. His dam's dam comes from a line of outstanding fine micron fleeces tracing back to imported males Sedoso and Huacho. Before we got her in the EPD pool, Comet's dam Hermione died and he was her only offspring. Hermione's dam Lianka is in the top 2% of EPDs for AFD and at age 9 had an AFD of 25.1 microns. Lianka is maintaining a fineness as she ages. Lianka's dam was tested at age 1 and had a 17.4 micron AFD and her grandmother at age 4 years had a 15.2 micron AFD. Comet has great fleece genetics both in the top and bottom of his pedigree. Comet has been part of the AOA's EPDs since 2017 and the current results can be seen using the EPD link. He's almost top 1% for staple length at 1.08%. Overall, the EPD rankings are excellent like we expected and it is expected that he will improve every trait in his offspring just like his sire Black Beau. The histogram for the EPD testing shows at age 2.5 years Comet has matured into a dark dawn male with uniform grade 3 fleece. Besides the histograms, Comet has a skin biopsy indicating he has great fleece genetics to pass on to offspring. Besides data, the lock structure of Comet's fleece is outstanding. He maintained a great lock structure in full fleece well past age 2 years. Those locks will be passed on to his progeny. The locks pictured are at 18 months of age. In that picture one can also see the luster is good. Comet has the fleece genetics, but really he is the whole package. He will also stamp on his crias exemplary Suri conformation. He has the exceptional Suri head from his sire Black Beau and great fleece coverage. He's a solidly built male of good stature. If anyone is looking for great luster in a black female, then wow, that person will have found it in RKR Hexagon! Hexa is sired by multiple Get of Sire winner Suri Peak's Coal Man and produced by a 3 time banner winner, including the 2006 True Black National Color Championship, Patagonia's Aint Misbehavin. And Hexa has it all! Luster, good fineness, locks, density, and great conformation are all found on this strongly built girl. At age 3 she had a histogram done that came back with an average fiber diameter of 26.4 microns. At age 5 she had the histogram done so that her data could be included in the 2018 EPDs for the first time and her AFD had only increased 1 micron to 27.4. Onyx has a good phenotype and a nicely locked fleece that displays good luster and fineness. His sire Fresh Prince was the 2012 Nationals Black CC and had a 19.9 micron AFD fleece at the age of 3 with a SD of 4.3 microns. Four time banner winner MMALP Micah is an outstanding grandson of the great herdsire Pucara Kahuna. Micah's sire's dam LCA Elana comes from great genetics and also has quite the show record herself winning 4 banners and placing first at The Futurity. Elana was sired by Grand Marnier, a MacGyver son, and a two time banner winner. Putting Kahuna and Elana together produced Kahuna's Casper, Micah's sire. Casper won a total of 10 banners in his show career, a Judge's Choice, and a first place at the AOBA National Fleece Show. The bottom half of Micah's pedigree is solid. His dam Synergy's Duchess is a Sierra Bonita's MacGyver's Synergy daughter and while she was never shown herself, her sire Synergy has produced a multitude of champions for Wilkins Ranch and Great Lakes Ranch. Micah has great genetics and they are Full Peruvian. Dr. Norm Evans Skin Biopsy Report: MMALP Micah was biopsied as a 50 month old light fawn Suri male. His ARI# is 32546620. His 15X scan shows fiber clusters that are uniform in shape and placement within his connective tissue. His density is 40.5 follicles SQ MM of skin and his S/P ratio from 20 typical fiber clusters averages 9.3 to 1. He grades level 4 of 4 gland structure. 100% of his secondary fibers show medullation. Eighty secondary fibers averaged 22.1 microns while 40 primary fibers averaged 35.5 microns. This equates to a micron variation of 13.4 microns. These fiber stats figure an AFD of 23.52 microns. Histogram Results: A random sample of fleece from Micah's side was taken on 9/19/17, just after Micah had turned 4 years old. The histogram came back with an AFD of 26.3 microns. Eight months later a larger sample was sent in so that Micah could be part of the 2018 EPDs. This histogram came back with a 28.6 micron AFD. The things most outstanding about Micah's fleece are its great luster, its outstanding lock structure, its consistent lock style across the body, and its very good staple. He has a lot of fleece and that may seem puzzling considering his density, but not so much when one considers the fact he is a large Suri male. He brings an outstanding conformation, great size with a very good substance of bone, and beautiful fleece coverage on his legs and his head to the genetics he will pass along to his offspring. We just love that size, that coverage, and his outstanding Suri head style. He just flat out carries himself and stands like a champion everywhere he goes. We will breed him to females that have fleeces with density and fineness that need to improve on their body size, lock structure, and luster.
