He has over 80 offsping on the ground, and he puts the COLOR from the Dam, as well as his exceptional El Nino/Hemingway fiber with that "thunder" head on his cria. Don't settle for breeding to a dark male to get color, get BOTH QUALITY AND COLOR.
AOA# 1086935 White
Dam: Lady Emma
31887175<--ari-->Dark Brown<--color-->Lady Emma was one of the most favorite females of the Cedar Hollow Farm Alpacas herd from Hiawatha, KS. She was one of the sweetest females, Bob and Nancy Sines agreed. Nancy wrote that "her fiber is soft as silk". She was a Reserve Color Champion!
Lady Emma weighed only 12.6 lbs. at birth and didn't start to eat alpaca crunch feed until she was over a year old, so she was a bit on the smaller side, but not so much that it affected her quality. Lady Emma traveled to Ohio to be bred to White Thunder. After returning to Kansas, awaiting the birth of her son, a storm bringing 80 MPH winds took half the roof off the barn where the females were sheltering. Therefore, her new little son, who was born 8 days after the wind, earned the name Perfect Storm. He is not Stormy at all -- He's just as nice as his mother.<--description-->
Description
We acquired CHF's Perfect Storm in August of 2014. Stormy was ready to begin his career as a herdsire, and has held the position of one of our top herdsires ever since. He is a little on the small side, but he has "near perfect" conformation and he still has the best fleece of any of our herdsires --- even at the age of 10 yrs. old. Stormy's fleece has held it's length and fineness; so much so, that we have entered his fleece in the AOA National Spin-Off Competition to be held July of this year.
In his younger days, Stormy placed 4th of 8 entries in his first Halter Show at the Mid America Alpaca Show in Topeka, KS, in 2011. He was 1 1/2 years old and showed very well. His judge for that show was Amanda VandenBosh. In 2016, Stormy placed 3rd of 6 entries in the Spin-Off competition at the MOPACA Show in Kansas City, MO, with LeeAnn King as his judge. In 2017, Stormy held his 3rd place against 8 entries in the AOA Nationals Fleece Show Spin-Off. We are anxious to see how he stands against the younger alpacas at the upcoming AOA Nationals this year. Check back in August to see if Stormy can still out shine the class.
Stormy was purchased as a Jr. Herdsire by Terry Marcotte, but did not get to prove his worth until we purchased him in August of 2014. Stormy has sired one grey son and four blacks -- each having different colors of dams -- 1 was grey, 1was brown, 2 were black. Stormy has three brown daughters -- dams are 1 med. brown, 1 dark brown, and 1 black. The fleece of each of his offspring is a definite improvement on the fleece quality of their mother's fleece. This proves the great quality of Stormy's ancestry.
Stormy's pedigree shows ancestors not that far removed from the first imports to the United States. On his sire's side, Stormy can brag that he is a descendant of PPeruvian Caligula G4572 and Peruvian Hemingway G171. His mother is the daughter of 6Peruvian GARCIA 5022 IMPR98, and further back ancestors such as PPeruvian Leon G4560, Lupe KN06, and ZechaVon TR. Stormy would not disappoint his forefathers, as he has continued to bring forth the good breeding and excellent qualities for which they all were chosen when imported to become the sires and dams of the first alpaca herds in the United States.
We are offering Stormy for sale at the end of this Spring breeding season, because this will be our last year to breed our females. We are beginning to decrease our herd as we are looking to the future and, sadly, to our eventual retirement from the alpaca business in the years ahead. We want Stormy to continue to sire offspring that have the fleece qualities and agreeable temperament that he has given to us. His most recent young male has the most excellent fleece we have ever produced on our farm and Skye King will surely follow in his sire's steps to take his place as a quality herdsire. Stormy can say that he is proud of all of his crias in fleece quality, gentle temperament, and conformation.
