CONSIGNED TO THE BREEDERS EDGE AUCTION ON AUGUST 23RD. HE WAS THE SECOND HIGHEST SELLING ALPACA OUT OF 77. Enterprise son... criated to amaze! Eros... the Greek god of erotic love. It wasn't by accident that he was named Eros. We believe that he has a bright future ahead of him as a topnotch herdsire. Yes, I know it's early but all indications are that he is clearly headed in the right direction, both conformationally and fiber-wise; and most certainly with attitude! At the end of the spring show season and at the tender age of 12.3 months, Eros has earned eight blue ribbons and five championships. I'd say that's a respectable start! And, the best thing is that he has this coming fall and spring to add to his collection of blues and banners before he even turns two and begins to think about breeding. At his first show, the New Jersey Alpaca Classic, he was awarded his first blue ribbon AND the light reserve champion ribbon. Even more appreciated were the words of praise that the judge lavished on him. To paraphrase senior judge Jude Anderson, “When Jude Anderson (her words) awards a championship to an alpaca that has just been weaned (referring to the fact that he was the youngest in his color group) it must be a very special alpaca, and this is a very special alpaca.” At his second show where, where once again he was the youngest in the class, he was honored with first place AND fawn reserve color champion. Judge Helen Humphries acknowledged that he was the most complete package in the class, along with being the finest in his class. She mentioned his excellent fleece structure and said that he was well grown for his age. At the CABO show in February, he again was awarded the blue where he competed against some of the most highly recognized farms in the country in a large class of 12. Senior judge Amanda VandenBosch was highly complimentary of him. Keep your eye on him... he's spectacular!

Description

We purchased Pepper as a maiden from at the 2020 Autumn Amber Auction. Pepper is an attractive female with all of the ingredients needed for a wonderful production dam. Sire AOV Accoyo Eros worked his magic crossed over a Jericho/Jeremiah/Mr. President daughter. Throw in some Royal Fawn/Vengador on the top side and what do you get? Pepper!! ... a lovely female with very nice phenotype, an attractive head, strong well-balanced frame and a perfect bite. Her fleece displays density, fineness, staple length, high frequency crimp and uniformity well into her extremities. Pepper’s most recent show results are the 2022 AOA National Fleece show. She received 1st place in her class and the “Most Uniform” award. Judge Wade Gease commented “Impressive density and volume to this fleece along with its micron range and uniformity. Excellent entry!” And Pepper's 2nd fleece was entered in the 2020 AOA National Fleece Show's Innovative Fleece Assessment. A copy of the score card / assessment can be Judge Cheryl Gehly commented "Fine secondaries in this dense, bright, highly aligned fleece!" Pepper delivered her first baby on 11/21/21 out of harlequin male Taupie's Son-shine of DVAF. The result is a lovely light fawn female-- Pepper's Spice Girl of DVAF. In October 2022, offspring, Spice Girl, attended her first show and placed first and Reserve Light Fawn Color Championship. Spice Girl is being offered in the 2023 Education with a Destination Auction - Lot 51. For Pepper's second breeding, she was paired with the wildly spotted harlequin appaloosa herdsire, Apache Gentleman. On 11/10/22 she delivered a handsome harlequin appaloosa male. Even at birth, this male has bundles of bright, dense curls. For more info, on Spirit, please see link below. Pepper's color genotype is ee a1a2. With her double dilute and double black alleles, she can be successful stamping her lovely phenotype and elite fleece across a variety of breeding programs such as black, grey, fawn and even harlequin appaloosa. UPDATE: On 5/30/23, Pepper was bred to our new handsome appaloosa herdsires, Chimbote from MaRS AND Rare Gem X-Man. It was Chimbote's first breeding and a bit short... so we had appaloosa herdsire Rare Gem X-Man cover her as well. Pepper has been spitting on her weekly behavior test since 5/30. Upon birth, DNA will confirm which of these handsome appaloosa males is the sire of the offspring. Pepper is co-owned with Diamond Valley Alpacas.
