**April 2022 UPDATE** Mondavi's first crop of crias (on our farm) are growing up fast. We have 3 GIRLS and a BOY!!! All have very nice fleece!! Female #1, Mondavi's Premiere, is dark brown/bay black with jet black ears and nose. Her dam is Opal, sired by Kobe of PVA. This little one has a very nice pedigree for sure!! Female #2, Xlite Legacy, medium fawn, also comes from a very nice pedigree...she is a Maxx MacGyver granddaughter out of Bijou Maxx's Kimberxlite! Female #3, Meiomi by Mondavi, is a pinto beauty! Her fleece is white, medium fawn, dark brown and bay black. This beautiful girl is one to watch for sure. Her fleece is superb and carries her wonderful traits consistently across each color in her blanket. Male cria, Beringer, looks VERY nice with LOTS of fleece. He started out medium fawn, but is now changing to a gray color!! Modern rose grey perhaps?? He has an impressive pedigree on both sides and will definately be one to watch! We just cant' say enough about how impressed we are with Mondavi's first offspring! ________________________________________ Mondavi is a hidden gem! He has the outstanding genetics of sire, Kahuna, on one side of his pedigree and 8X Champion Sierra Bonita's Sirius Black on his dam's side. Mondavi has very nice conformation and great density... he sheared a 6 pound blanket at 7 years old!! Although he had a limited show career (which we just recently discovered!), he DID win a blue ribbon as a mature male--almost 4 years old! Even without a Championship banner, Mondavi is a champion quality herdsire in our book! He has been under-utilized as a breeding male and we are so excited to change that! We used Mondavi with one female in 2020 and are planning more in 2021. **As described by previous owners** In recent years we have crossed our elite full Peruvian colored breeding stock with the Kahuna line, in an effort to produce the best of both. Kahuna's dominant white genetics rarely result in offspring with as much color. As of January 2014, "Mondavi" is the darkest Kahuna offspring to date. Given Kahuna's status as the elite light Suri herdsire in the industry, being able to build a marketing campaign around his darkest offspring is something most elite Suri breeders would see as a rare and treasured opportunity. This boy is loaded with potential!! ________________________________________ We are very excited to bring Mondavi to Honey Maple Farms as a herdsire. As you can see from his photos and histogram, he had very nice fleece as a young male. With his pedigree and genetic potential, we are hoping for good things from this guy! 2021 brought us 4 crias from Mondavi and WOW are we pleased with the results! All have gorgeous luster, density and nice conformation. These crias well help us elevate our breeding program..no doubt.

Alex is a very sweet girl and great mother! She has had 4 crias for us so far and has had flawless births. She even makes sure that her crias eat on a regular schedule. Yes, REALLY!! We couldn't ask for a nicer female. Alex has an easy-going temperament that makes her one of our favorite keepers! She also is exibiting some really nice luster as she ages! Interestingly, this true black female has given us two medium fawn crias when bred to white and fawn males. *August 2021 UPDATE* Alex delivered a real surprise for us on August 25! A gorgeous PINTO female with sire, Mondavi-- white, med fawn, bay black/black!! This little girl is following in the footsteps of her maternal grand-dam, who was also a pinto. We are loving this little one!! JUNE 2022 We are going for the BLACK this year!! Alex was bred to Cinch for her 2023 cria. Alex has such great luster at her age and Cinch has the density PLUS luster and great locks, this should be a good match! **July 2023 UPDATE** Drum roll please......we DID IT!! Alex gave us a gorgeous true black male cria on July 20. This is the very first true black born on our farm and we are ecstatic! He was born on the feast of Saint Elias, so that will be his name. Elias is a handsome boy with lots of wrinkles on his neck and topline. We are really excited to see him develop!!

Description

Meiomi was a much anticipated cria for several reasons. First, we were very excited to have Mondavi's first cria born on OUR farm. Second, we were curious to see what color this cria would be, since mom, Alex, is black and Mondavi has black in his pedigree. TOTAL SURPRISE--a patterned little girl!! Well, maternal genetics came through on this one...grandma is a pinto and Meiomi is, too! BUT WAIT----after doing a little digging into Kahuna's offspring, we discovered that he DID sire 2 multicolored crias...never saw that coming! Now we know there is potential to produce patterns when we pair Mondavi with females who have pattern genetics in their pedigrees. Meiomi is such a darling! We could not be happier with this little girl!! *FEBRUARY 2022 UPDATE* We are just AMAZED at what this little girl is doing with her fleece!! She has developed the MOST LUSTROUS, dense locks over the past couple of months. She has that cool, greasy feel and her fleece just absolutely SHINES! She is beautiful..and each color in her multi-colored fleece (white, medium fawn, medium brown/bay black) carries the same consistency of luster, organization and lock style. Like we said....AMAZING! DEC 2024 We love this girl, but we need some barn space, so we are offering Meiomi for sale. She comes with a herd sire breeding of YOUR CHOICE! Meiomi has the potential to produce just about ANY color. Her dam is true black, her grand-dam is a pinto, her sire (Mondavi) carries black and grey genetics, so you can see this girl has TONS of potential. We suggest a breeding to one of our newest "hidden gems," Yukon Jack. He is a Diamonte grandson and wouldn't that be a fun combo??!!
