Four time banner winner MMALP Micah is an outstanding grandson of the great herdsire Pucara Kahuna. Micah's sire's dam LCA Elana comes from great genetics and also has quite the show record herself winning 4 banners and placing first at The Futurity. Elana was sired by Grand Marnier, a MacGyver son, and a two time banner winner. Putting Kahuna and Elana together produced Kahuna's Casper, Micah's sire. Casper won a total of 10 banners in his show career, a Judge's Choice, and a first place at the AOBA National Fleece Show. The bottom half of Micah's pedigree is solid. His dam Synergy's Duchess is a Sierra Bonita's MacGyver's Synergy daughter and while she was never shown herself, her sire Synergy has produced a multitude of champions for Wilkins Ranch and Great Lakes Ranch. Micah has great genetics and they are Full Peruvian. Dr. Norm Evans Skin Biopsy Report: MMALP Micah was biopsied as a 50 month old light fawn Suri male. His ARI# is 32546620. His 15X scan shows fiber clusters that are uniform in shape and placement within his connective tissue. His density is 40.5 follicles SQ MM of skin and his S/P ratio from 20 typical fiber clusters averages 9.3 to 1. He grades level 4 of 4 gland structure. 100% of his secondary fibers show medullation. Eighty secondary fibers averaged 22.1 microns while 40 primary fibers averaged 35.5 microns. This equates to a micron variation of 13.4 microns. These fiber stats figure an AFD of 23.52 microns. Histogram Results: A random sample of fleece from Micah's side was taken on 9/19/17, just after Micah had turned 4 years old. The histogram came back with an AFD of 26.3 microns. Eight months later a larger sample was sent in so that Micah could be part of the 2018 EPDs. This histogram came back with a 28.6 micron AFD. The things most outstanding about Micah's fleece are its great luster, its outstanding lock structure, its consistent lock style across the body, and its very good staple. He has a lot of fleece and that may seem puzzling considering his density, but not so much when one considers the fact he is a large Suri male. He brings an outstanding conformation, great size with a very good substance of bone, and beautiful fleece coverage on his legs and his head to the genetics he will pass along to his offspring. We just love that size, that coverage, and his outstanding Suri head style. He just flat out carries himself and stands like a champion everywhere he goes. We will breed him to females that have fleeces with density and fineness that need to improve on their body size, lock structure, and luster.

Chocolat has science on her side with excellent results in her histogram. 21.2 microns AFD with a good standard deviation of 5.0 microns. It also shows great staple length in her first shearing and she had a solid fleece weight for such fine fiber. Her EPDs came back with indications that she will produce crias with great fleeces as she is consistent with exceptional EPD rankings across the board. She also has genetics on her side. Chocolat is out of dam Pucara Mischa's Belle and Black Beau of PVA. Mischa's sire is Pucara Kahuna. She and GLR Alia are most likely the two foundation females in our herd with the strongest pedigrees. Kobe, Diamonte, Black Beau and Kahuna are herdsires with such great legacies based upon the crias they've sired. We can't wait to see the crias she'll produce. Chocolat had a white female cria sired by Sierra Bonita's MacGyver's Synergy on June 9, 2018. She was a big girl weighing 20 pounds and looks to have a good fleece. Synergy died in February 2018 and this cria and another male cria belonging to Mike and Janet Wilkins also born in June 2018 will be the last two crias sired by Synergy. Unfortunately she developed a tender fleece and was never shown. On July 2, 2019, Chocolat gave birth to an 18.5 lb female cria. She looks to have a creamy color so she may be beige or white like her half-sister born last year. She exhibited great locking on the day she was born and great luster. She is developing into a beautiful young female. That daughter named Chérie was shown as a yearling and was the winner of three banners including a Reserve National Championship in March 2021. On August 26, 2021, Chocolat birthed a 19 lb male cria. He was sired by Micah. The cria is black with a white face and white at the bottom of his front legs. The fleece and phenotype both look nice and we are looking forward to see how he develops. On September 2, 2023 Chocolat had a 19.4 lb brown female cria. The cria has a white face and beard as well as white at the bottom of her front legs. This girl was sired by Zoltar and her fleece is extremely nice. It has a great staple length, wonderful luster, a very soft handle, and little penciled locks that are nicely organized. She has a gorgeous Suri phenotype with great fleece coverage. Chocolat has had no problem birthing her crias and all have been large crias. Her crias have grown well as she provides plenty of milk. She's an excellent mother. We have left Chocolat open, and she will be bred in 2024.

So, it's a definite that the top half of Canter's pedigree is loaded with championship and prepotent genetics. Genetics that produce crias with outstanding, lustrous fleeces. We shouldn't give all the credit to the top of Canter's pedigree for his luster because his dam Chocolat Par Beau has great luster herself and great genetics, too. Chocolat has the great PVA genetics of her sire Black Beau on top and is out of an outstanding Kahuna daughter Pucara Mischa's Belle on the bottom. The fineness of Canter's fleece comes from his dam Chocolat. Chocolat's EPDs are outstanding for fineness and uniformity. The fact is Canter's dam Chocolat's EPDs are very good for every category. This is Chocolat's third cria and we feel the that all of them are proof that we are right in saying Chocolat is a stud production female. We named Canter after The Rolling Stone's song "You Can't Always Get What You Want." Canter was born a couple of days before their drummer Charlie Watts died. It's a long story from there, but simply put, Canter wasn't what we wanted in regards to gender, color, or sire. Since The Stones were on our mind we joked, "You can't always get what you want!" The sire we wanted didn't have a good breeding session with Chocolat. We covered her with Micah because it was the end of breedings for 2020 and we wanted to try to make sure she was bred. Even though we really had different plans, we couldn't ask for a better boy than Canter. He has an awesome personality. He's a very friendly boy. He's beautifully colored and catches one's eye. His fleece is developing that beautiful lock structure Micah stamps on his crias. He's a big, strong boy and weighed almost 50 lbs at 2 months. He has a beautiful Suri phenotype including an exemplary Suri head style. We are looking forward to seeing how he develops.
