Velvet Challenge comes to us from Happy Hounds Ranch on West Coast. We became interested in him for our color breeding program because we were really happy seeing what his sire, Velvet Touche produces in color. This boy is a champion in the show ring and has an outstanding fleece. He produces a strong, dense staple that has an outstanding brightness and uniformity. He is a robust male with a very strong and conformationally perfect frame. We have bred him to the majority of our dark females this summer and fall and we are very excited for his 2019 cria. Velvet Challenge is a solid producing male on our farm. He has produced well over twenty cria on the farm. He primarily produces fawn and brown. His crias are well sized with good conformation and phenotype. Several of his cria have also been banner winners in the show ring. Some of these winners include Buck Brook's Velvet Flare, who is now a herdsire in Canada. Velvetina who is on the farm and bred to Zagato's Zephrite and most recently Loki's Challenge at DL Farms in Canada. Loki's Challenge took Grand Champion and Judge's Choice in the fleece category at the most recent Navan Fair Fleece Show. Velvet as we call has a nice temperament and is easy to handle and breed. We have been blessed with plenty of his Velvet Touche genetics on the farm, which was our goal, so we are now offering him for sale. He has many good breeding years left. He is priced to sell, and we can offer fleece samples and more information. A great male at a great price! Wow! One of the nicest crias in the barn...I didn't even want to put her on openherd...just wanted to keep her a secret until showtime! She is so much like Lucy-other then the color! She has the same easy going personality as Lucy (those who saw us in the showring know what we are talking about!) This girl has it all-she ended her career in the showring after taking Judges Choice at The Small Breeders at Mapaca. Jeannie had a brown male out of Leviathian and he has bannered at every show. Jeannie is currently open for a much deserved break!

Offering 3-Outside Breedings to Ricochet in 2025 Ricochet is the amazing result of crossing our Majestic's Dominant, a Jumanji Son, with one of our many Elite Maximus Girls. Dominant, like his Sire, carries a beautiful dense fleece with a tight crimp structure from his top knot to his toes. All of this on a rock-solid frame. Ricochet's Dam, Sugarland's Sedona, is a light fawn super fine girl with perfect conformation and a sweet personality. It's no surprise that Ricochet has such extreme fineness given his Grandsire is The Elite Maximus, who carried a low micron fleece way into his later years. Ricochet was awarded the Reserve Champion in the Halter Class at the 2020 AOA Nationals at just 8 months of age. The Fawn Classes were huge and the competition was tough so we were very honored that he received such an awesome placement. Update April 12, 2022- Dominant's Ricochet of Sugarland was awarded the prestigious Futurity Male Judges Choice this weekend in Kansas City. What a wonderful ride it has been and we have always felt blessed to have the privilege of showing Ricochet and to be by his side in the ring. We made the choice several months ago to have The Futurity be the final halter show for our boy so it is both exciting, and humbling to be awarded the Judges Choice at his final walk in the show ring. Ricochet has been awarded a total of 22 Champion Banners and 10 Judges Choice in his show career including 2 AOA National Supreme Champions. And now, at just 33 months of age, it is time for Ricochet to begin a new chapter and join our Herdsire row at Sugarland Ranch. We will be offering a limited number of outside breedings to Ricochet each year beginning in 2023. Please contact us to reserve a breeding.
