Gun's A'Blazin' did in fact come into our herd in a "blaze" and took us through an incredible ride as a youngster. He was without question the best fleeced alpaca that we had seen in our herd. He went on to have a brilliant show career and start his breeding career at only 23 months of age. He was biopsied and follicle tested by Ian Watt and as of July 2010, is the densest non white alpaca ever tested by or either through him or Jim Watt's lab in Australia, of any in the world. Although we rely heavily on biopsies for density, we put equal importance on histograms and especially "hand and eye", none of which Blaze has disappointed us with. More importantly, his production has been nothing less than outstanding having produced champions in grey, black, brown and fawn. We have our own "in house" EPD system and unfortunately are unable to demonstrate the analytics on Blaze's offspring. All of the ones in our herd have been done to date (9/2015): Have a look at the data on the his page on the Renaissance Ridge website...the remarkable thing in our breeding scheme is not only that he has consistently and dramatically improved fiber density over the dams, many of whose data can be linked to, but that density has been accompanied by an across the board improvement the differential in micron between primary and secondary fiber, and an excellent SD in each fiber population. Likewise the progeny histograms support the improvement in fineness, and uniformity. Blaze has been a powerful influence in our breeding program. It was our 11 year old's (Phoebe's) turn to name our newest arrival. She says that Koyuki is Japanese for "powdered snow'. It fits perfectly. She is solid with perfect conformation. Her fleece is very dense, uniform and carries good length, uniformity and persistant fineness. Since she is a dilution white, when bred to color she produces color as evidence by her two most recent cria, RR Guinevere, a fawn out of our super herdsire, RR Gun's A'Blazin', and RR Adel in a, also by RR GUNS ABLAZIN. Guinevere is currently part of our breeding program and we shall retain Adelina as well. For this next pregnancy we are challenging Koyuki to see if she can produce the excellence that she has accomplished with Gun's A'Blazin' and see if his son can do the same...and perhaps in grey. Thank you Tammy Duensing for this fabulously marked male, whose color is continuously morphing! Illinialpaca Morpheus is a handsome, easy going male with strong Appaloosa and Harlequin genetics on both his dam’s and sire’s side. Both Morph’s sire and dam are considered calico harlequins and both are from extraordinarily rare lines. His dam is the daughter of Vintage Peruvian Confetti. Morph’s sire, Shasta Springs Kodachrome, aka Shasta, is from an unknown line of harlequin appaloosas. Shasta’s dam, Tilama-Chapuco was a direct Chilean import. We can’t wait to see what Morph will produce for us!
