A rose grey male was produced.....While researching the dam side of Xander it's no surprise that this happened because there is so much history of greys in the Emerald Farm Orlando Cloud line. Ariya Maringo's Xander participated in both fleece and halter show and received Color Champion in both. Xander is square and boxy, a real true to type conformation. His fleece received comments like "Such a beautiful color! Fine, fine, secondaries in this dense, bright fleece! June 21, 2021, Xander's first offspring is on the ground and he's proven to produce grey with his first medium rose grey female out of Super Sonic's Silver and Silk.

Sierra is a gorgeous medium size light fawn with a ton of fiber! Density, fineness, uniformity and great crimp definition. Her dam Sati has given us many crias exhibiting some of our best fleeces. Sierra has done very well in the show ring as a juvie and yearling, winning a Color Championship in Light and 1st places in though classes. We are excited to have her included in our grey breeding program as we discovered that this fawn girl covers black! Her first cria, Shadow, turned out to be a LSG so we can easily guess her genotype to be either an eeaa or eeAa. Either way, we will continue working with this amazing female in our grey program and we look forward to many more exceptional crias out of this award winning girl!

GENOTYPE: Ee a1a2 Classic Grey We are so thrilled to have added this fantastic new classic grey male to our lineup! Plum Creek’s Taji made its way to Canada mid-summer 2022 and we are expecting his first offspring in 2023. Taji’s typey conformation, solid square frame and superior fleece qualities are everything we look for in a classic grey herdsire and he will certainly be a great successor to Wingman, our Bomber son, who is now back in the US. Taji is one of only 2 registered classic grey son sired by Bellarmine (ATV Adonnis)…the other one being Crescent Moon’s Emmaus! Taji’s MSG dam, Estates Yanni, has retained beautiful fineness and uniformity with age (4th fleece: 18.8 | 3.9 | 1.2% >30 | MC 47.4). No surprises here as she comes from prominent grey lineage in NS Magic Flight (Snowmass Enlightenment) and more great lineage in Patagonia’s Ernesto (Patagonia’s Lennox). Being the product of excellent bloodlines, it's no surprise that Taji has done extremely well in both halter and fleece shows and that his fiber stats are simply delightful! We cannot wait to start creating our next generation of awesome greys with this boy! Taji will remain exclusive for 2022 and will be opened to outside breedings in 2023. We wish to thank Brian and Valerie from Plum Creek Alpacas for allowing us to bring Taji into our program! UPDATE: Taji's first two crias in Canada both win Grey Colour Champion at their first halter show! The judge had very similar comments for both juvies pointing out a great combination of positive fleece traits and confirmation traits. Both juvies displayed a high degree of organization thanks to incredible fineness and uniformity of micron combined to above average follicular density; a combination that is more rarely found in classic grey! We are absolutely thrilled with these results and comments and we look forward to many more offspring from this amazing male!

Description

GENOTYPE: Ee Aa3 Classic Grey!!! (We had a hunch on this one...isn't genotyping amazing!) Dakota is a solid built female with great substance of bone and delightful fleece. Her dam Sierra (XXXtreme line) is one of our best light solid-colored girl that has consistently produced some of our best crias year after year, many of them who went on to win CC and RC. Dam Sierra seems to allow the classic gene through easily (although this is clearly random and partially based on luck!) with many classic rosegrey crias and even a classic silver. Dakota's sire, Ariya Maringo's Xander, is a delightful rosegrey male who has won halter and fleece championships and who's pedigree include Orlando Cloud and Jumanji. This girl is expressing an atypical classic grey phenotype because of her "Aa" genotype but she will produce classic greys at the same rate as a normal "fully expressed" classic grey ("aa"). We plan on breeding her to an undiluted male carrying a double ASIP mutation (EEaa) so that she produces offspring with a darker base coat colour. This will also ensure that when she does throw her classic gene, she will be producing offspring with the "fully expressed" classic grey pattern ("aa") on a 50% basis. Plenty to look forward to here!
