Red Granites Aragon

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Fawn
AOA# 35123040DOB: 8/20/20169 yrs
Red Granites Aragon is one of the finest highest curve fawn fleeced stud males in our breeding program. He has routinely stayed in a the limits of the Royal Alpaca fleece stats, even as a breeding male with crias on ground. He is our main goal as a huacaya breeder, lasting fineness with density. His line lineage is quite unique with a Fawn Sire: CCNF Legionnaire, a son of Snowmass Matrix Majesty who is now deceased. His Dam is one of our finest .38 Special daughters, Crescent Moon's Anna Lucia, who has produced multiple Futurity & National Champions in an array of dark-colors. Aragon is by far her best son produced thus far. Red Granites Aragon is a striking medium fawn, award-winning male. He has a very beautiful fleece. Aragon carries an extremely soft fine, yet very dense fleece, with amazing brightness to add on. He carries a full fleece body of high-frequency low amplitude fleece with small individual little bundles throughout, and is very consistent throughout the body. He has carried a Grade 0 fleece since is first shearing, which is amazing considering he is now a 5 year old breeding male. We took Aragon to a few shows but didn't return until he was of mature age due to his extreme qualities. Aragon blossomed a little late into his show career. He wasn't on our showing list until fall of 2017 but never returned on our list till TXOLAN in 2018 where he was awarded a 2nd place and Reserve Color Champion. After that point, he was winning anything above 3rd places. At the National Western Stock Show in 2020 at 3 years of age, he was awarded the 2020 Grand Champion male, as a 3-year-old!! We then brought Aragon to the 2020 AOA National Show and he did not disappoint us! As a 42.8-month-old male, he came home with the Fawn AOA National Color Champion win. He has produced colors in all colors, championships winners and top show placers! This includes 13X Champion, Red Granites Lionheart, and 17X Champion & Grade 0 Most Uniform winner, Ironhide Vapor (owned by Ironhide Alpacas & Aspen Alpaca Company). His progeny maintain his elite fineness and uniformity levels on show-winning, typey phenotypes. Fiber and Fleece Description Carries a great high curve 5 years remained to have a high curve 66.6, and high frequency of crimps Excellent brightness and extreme consistency of fiber character over the entire blanket Bright, Fine, Uniform crimp structuring throughout FINENESS GRADE 0 at ages 1, 2, and 3 years old FINENESS GRADE 0 CURRENT age 5 years

Red Granites Vida is an exceptional female, but that is a given considering her genetics of Kirwin and Snowmass MR Sizlin Rose...She has a smokey roan coloration to her and a fleece with lingering fineness and uniformity. She is an exceptional producer. All of her progeny have been at the top of their classes. Her son, Ironhide Vapor, is an incredible 15X Champion!!

Description

Co-Owned between Ironhide Alpacas & Aspen Alpaca Company in Idaho. He will be standing stud in Colorado from October to May and in Idaho from May to September. His intro breedings sold quickly and he is now CLOSED to outside breedings! Ironhide Vapor is a male packed with ELITE color genetics and a show-ring résumé to back it up! His dam, Red Granites Vida, is a roan daughter of the legendary Kirwin—a 13-time champion and one of the most influential brown males in U.S. breeding history. Vida’s dam is a daughter of Snowmass MR Sizlin Rose and out of MSA Valpolicella, a 3-time champion brown female who anchored our foundation herd for a decade. Valpolicella produced a range of champions from white to black, including the likes of Copaca’s Summit and his only cria, Red Granites Pennacle, a 3-time white champion/Best Bred & Owned winner now owned by Deja Vu Alpacas. This maternal line continues to leave a legacy of consistency, color, and champion production. Vapor’s sire, Red Granites Aragon, is a 3-time AOA National Fawn Champion known for maintaining a micron range of 14–18 throughout his life. Aragon's fleece has a vicuña-like character, and he’s sired by the great CCNF Legionnaire, a Futurity and National Champion whose genetics are widely respected both in North America and internationally—including at EP Cambridge Alpaca Stud in Australia. Too boot, Aragon won a Judges' Choice at 8-years-old, proving his longevity of positive fiber traits. Structurally, Vapor stands out with his strong bone, great frame, and highly refined, “typey” huacaya appearance. He is perfectly proportioned with a perfect bite. His fleece mirrors his genetics: bright, fine, uniform, and dense with an extremely soft, supple hand to it. He has already proven himself in the ring with 19 championship banners, including two at AOA Nationals, one in walking fleece and another in the AOA National IFA Show. To boot, he won the Most Uniform for Grade 0 fleece at the National IFA Show with a micron variance of just 0.3 - INCREDIBLE!! His walking fleece score cards are close to perfection ranging from 82-92%. Now, take a look at his 2025 samples done by Ian Watt with a OFDA2000, he averaged: AFD 14.6, SD 2.7, CV 18.7, %30 0.0, MC 63.7, and staple length of about 3.8 inches - all at 24-months old. He’s just getting started. Look for him in the rings Fall 2025 to Spring 2026 - spoiler alert, he's STILL winning!! Fleece Description Incredibly soft handling fleece. Wonderful uniformity of micron, his primary to secondary ratio is exceptionally good. He also carries through with brightness, and a wonderful crimp style + above average staple length.
