GENOTYPE: Ee Aa3 Non-Grey We are thrilled to have added Ariya Pure Reserve’s Jophiel to our herdsire lineup in 2022! Jophiel encompasses everything we are looking for in a light-colored sire. His fleece is simply exquisite and is maturing nicely. He is retaining excellent fineness and uniformity for age and displays amazing density from head to toe. He also has a strong typey conformation on a solid upright frame. Honestly, what’s not to love about this boy! Jophiel will certainly pass on his elite characteristics to his offspring as does his 3x Judge's Choice winning dam, Sunnyhill Conopa’s Spirit, and his game-changing sire, Snowmass Pure Reserve XX. Pure Reserve is known to cover black and has had many dark and even black offspring when bred to darker females. We have faith that Jophiel will also cover black and will be able to produce silvers and blacks when bred accordingly. Although we have bred Jophiel to some of our darker females to see what he produces, he will officially be genotyped in 2023 so we have a better understanding of his color potential. Jophiel is part of the ''Golden Line'' of full siblings (Sunnyhill Conopa’s Spirit x Snowmass Pure Reserve XX) produced before Pure Reserve's exportation to Europe. His full brother, Golden Treasure, is a 3x Fawn CC who won the Judge's Choice | Supreme Male award at the 2022 Alpaga Quebec Halter Show at the age of 45 months. His full sister, True Spirit, is a 4x Fawn CC who also won a Judge's Choice | Supreme Female award in 2018. Being part of an elite program and herd, Jophiel just happen to fly a bit under the radar compared to his full siblings so he does not have any show records. His pedigree, fiber stats and EPDs do however reveal his potential and place him in this elite golden group. We are confident that he will pass on his true potential to progeny and into our program. Tamara is one of the most stunning true black we have produced up to now. With a compact frame and beautiful head, she is one of our favorite foundation girls here. Although she inherited great density from her sire and good fineness and uniformity of her dam, one of her most impressive and striking fiber quality is her staple length. Her 5th fleece came in just short of 5 inches at shearing! Needless to say this is one of the longest staple length for age on our farm and her EPD tends to confirms that. She still ranks top 5% at age 8 for MSL and definitely passes on this trait to her crias which almost all rank Top 1% for that same trait. Tamara also carries a ton of fleece and her crias are always heavy fleeced beasts :) Although MSL seems more and more detrimental to halter and fleece showing these days and that this valuable trait is slowly being almost bred out across herds in both the US and Canada, we feel that it is very important for fiber processing longevity (and let's not forget, adds to overall fleece weight!). Too little or too much can certainly be detrimental for showing purposes but in terms of breeding value, we feel that this trait is clearly underrated and should be considered and valued as much as other traits such as MC, AFD or SD in the constant pursuit of the "perfect fleece"! Although her crias have all ranked top 1% for MSL, some still carry a high MC (have a look at her son Helix's fleece!). Her 2 classic silver sons from Wingman have also won CC and RC in 2022 (one behind the other!) so exceptional MSL is clearly not always detrimental to showing! That said, we highly value what this exceptional girl brings to our program and we look forward to many more crias from her! Tamara is bred to Ariya Pure Reserve's Jophiel for a 2023 cria. We are expecting a homerun with this one and hopefully a female cria this time around ;)
