Polson is looking very awesome. His sire Cloud Pleaser was one of Orlando Cloud's first offspring. Polson also has other noteworthy relatives such as CPeruvian Silvio & Fire N' Ice. His dam Cahlua was one of our most solid Adonis females ever. After seeing the 2 cria he helped create this summer of 2024, we bred him to as many as we could. He made a medium silver grey female out of a lsg and improved on density, crimp and bone. His 2nd one is a TB out of a DB with black tips. Improved on fineness, density (hugely), crimp & amplitude, staple length. 2025 will be so exciting to see if he keeps up the grey and black offspring!

Lucy took on her first breeding which was a maiden breeding for Polson (Orlando Cloud grandson)as well. She delivered very matter of factly too! Those two produced a gorgeous medium silver grey girl we named Pixie. She has a permanent smile. I have been planning on keeping Lucy and bred her back to Polson but have recently decided after some human age issues reared their head that I need to cut down the herd while still keeping the oldies and having babies for fleece and selling. So, I've decided to keep my middle aged working females so that when they are done, I'll be closer to being done with breeding. I will probably keep Pixie for a few years to insure the genetics of Primus & Polson stay here longer. Lucy was calm as a cria and then took on her crazy mom's personality somewhat (we won't be able to sell the mom because of her being very strong and unfriendly-unless she is ready to breed and then she is great for farm visitors to pet for hours!) but has now calmed down to what I'd say is average alpaca behavior. She won't be weaning Pixie until January/Feb so will not be able to leave the farm until then. She has been a fantastic mom. I think with her in particular, it will help her to move with a barn mate and to just be allowed to chill for awhile before shearing etc...mid to late June cria is perfect for that timing. Check out the other girls we have for sale. I will be adding more soon.

Description

Pixie was a much anticipated cria being both Lucy's & Polson's first offspring so it was nice that Lucy didn't go as long as some for a maiden birth as she was first in line for birthing. After seeing how nice Pixie turned out, I promptly put them on my breeding list for a repeat. Lucy is pregnant and due June 18, 2025. Pixie is a robust, good bone, very dense and fine. Solid grey body. Her grey lineage is pretty damn impressive. Her maternal line goes back 5 generations of grey with a couple black sires. Her dam's sire Epic Alpacas Primus is a consistent grey maker and his sire is the famous BMF Taos' Zeppelin the first black full accoyo. Pixie's sire JJA Cloud's Polson is a grandson of Orlando Cloud (potent grey from McGwire & Victor lines). Polson's sire JJA Cloud Pleaser was one of the first offspring of Orlando. Pleaser was a bay black out of a MSG Fire-N-Ice daughter. Polson's dam is from mostly accoyo lines that do color. Royal Fawn through Apollo & Eros and our own JJA Royal Adonis who consistently through fine, dark, large bone, good tempered offspring. El Moustacio, P3 White Lightning and DLA Peruvian Velerio are just a few of the accoyo sires on her Polson's dam side. Pixie's dam Lucy has remarkably long and fine staple with good density and nice crimp. Lucy had a textbook maiden birth after getting pregnant on the first try. Very good maternal instincts just like her dam which is very important for foundation girls. Take a gander at Primus and his offspring. We have a DSG male cria born this summer 2024 named Sheba's Shaboozey who should do as well as Primus in the ring, if not better. I may consider selling Pixie with her dam Lucy if we get Lucy's dam reproductively healthy again. She hasn't held a pregnancy since still birthing twins in spring of 2023 after years of excellent repro health/production. We're wanting to get our herd numbers down by 1/3 with another 1/3 already in the over mature group. Those oldies need more attention us as owners are slowing down.
