Red Granites Man of Mystery

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Fawn, Light Silver Grey
AOA# 35123057DOB: 8/9/20169 yrs
First, you have to thank Red Granite for delivering such an outstanding male. Second, you have to thank Kitt Hollister for selling you her herd, including this outstanding male, and if I could reduce the lack of hesitation in making that purchase, I could in fact reduce it to this one male. From Kitt: "The best way to introduce this male is using the facts. First: YES, he is a true Harlequin. His great grandsire, Black Epic, is one of the most prolific Harlequin Appaloosa producers out there. His spots are subtle as his coloring is very light, a most stunning lavender rose grey. They are there, however, and there is no question that his extraordinary coloration is the result of the Harlequin Appaloosa gene." At 127.2 follicles/square mm density, Man of Mystery is the densest alpaca yet biopsied by Ian Watt in the USA, and I have not yet heard of a denser alpaca out there. With a primary SD of 2.5, secondary SD of 2.2, and fiber population differential of 3.5, he is also one of the most uniform. To quote Ian Watt directly, "overall this is the best alpaca I have tested in the US." His yearling histogram, at 16.0 AFD and 3.1 SD, is fine. His two year old histogram, at 17.3 AFD and still a 3.1 SD, is fine. His 2019 AFD, calculated off of his biopsy, is 16.9. So, he's fine, and he's staying fine, which is to be expected. Why? Well, his sire, CCNF Legionnaire, has a 6 y/o AFD of 17.3 with an SD of 3.5, and his dam's 5 y/o histogram was 20.5 with an SD of 3.5 -- impressive for any color, but stunning for a TRUE BLACK. So, here we go: unbelievably dense, uniform, and fine. As the pictures show, this fleece is, as expected, also quite beautiful -- bright bright bright, with a high-frequency crimp that stamps it as truly elite. He also has a decent staple. So far, he has thrown pattern 80+% of the time. His crias demonstrate his unique coloring and fantastic fiber statistics! He's produced blacks with 16 micron fleeces adn 2.9 SDs, and appaloosa/harlequins with 17.9 microns and 3.6 SDs. Be on the lookout. This guy is restricted but his kids are not... Much much more to come.

Dam: Dancing Elk's Nina

Beautiful Fiber & Coverage

Dancing Elk's Nina

HuacayaOpen (Female)Light Fawn
AOA# 35380702DOB: 6/20/20205 yrs
Nina's 2024 breeding is to match her with Howling Hills Conspicuous "Spike". On 6/20/20, we were surprised by a white cria. There were two faint-and, oh so small- fawn spots. One on her forehead and one on a lower leg. She was statuesque like a ballerina. Fast forward to two years old and Nina's fiber is lovely. Dense bundling, tight crimp, brightness and coverage galore. What to do about a breeding...with some spots in her lineage? Time to change lanes. Bred to Red Granites Man of Mystery in '22, we are now in the appaloosa business with the birth of Nina's first cria, a LF appy girl, Dancing Elk's Mystery Unveiled (aka...Dotty). Our plan for Nina's 2024 breeding is to match her with Howling Hills Conspicuous "Spike".

Judge's Choice and 15x Banner Winner

Stillmeadow Farm Blizzard

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)White
AOA# 35025719DOB: 9/23/201510 yrs
Blizzard is an elite powerhouse when it comes to herdsire expectations. His exceptional confirmation and fleece characteristics have placed him at the top throughout his show career. His accolades include a Judge's Choice, Best Crimp Award, Get of Sire, 15 banners, and 28 first place ribbons! He sports an ultra-dense, bright white fleece, and his massive bone and exemplary fiber coverage add to his macho appearance. This guy has a true adjusted density of 90.08 follicles SQ/MM of skin - the average huacaya male is 58.49 SQ/MM! All scans indicate that nearly 0% of his secondary fibers are medullated, which is extremely rare. Per Dr. Norm Evans, "Blizzard is only the second huacaya ever that shows few of his primary fibers are medullated when most show 100% medullation." Blizzard's sire, TGF Apocalypse, is a multi-banner winning male and son of Snowmass Elite Legend. Blizzard's dam, TGF Snow Drop, is the daughter of multi-champion, Snowmass Sub Zero. She's a Judge's Choice and Champion producing female. This guy is packed with elite genetics. A champion in halter, walking fleece, and fleece shows, Blizzard has also proven himself by passing on his winning traits to his offspring (check them out below). To date, he's produced as light as white and as dark as bay black - including APPALOOSA AND PINTO! His potential uses are endless when it comes to white or color breeding programs. All in all, this guy is the complete package. Contact us today to add his genetics to your herd! As of 4/13/2024: - 60% of his shown offspring have placed 1st or better - 88.6% of his shown offspring have placed 3rd or better Notable Offspring: Blizzard's Beatrix (MF) - 2x Blue Breezy Naomi (MF) - 1x RC, 3x Blue Bronwyn (MF) - 1x CC, 1x RC, 4x Blue Cleo's Carmel (DF) - 1x Blue Cleo's Clearview Princess (WH) - 1x Blue Cloud Joe-E (MF) - 1x RC, 2x Blue Drogonfire (WH) - 1x Blue Elderwood's Place Your Betts (DF) - 3x CC, 2x BBO, 3x RC, 21x Blue Elderwood's Polar Wind (MF) - 5x CC, 5x RC, 10x Blue ELWD's Wynter Is Coming (WH) - 1x JC, 2x CC, 4x RC, 20x Blue Foxwire Daemon (PINTO) - 1x CC, 7x RC, 14x Blue Givenchy's Gidget (WH) - 1x JC, 2x CC, 1x RC, 5x Blue Polar Storm (WH) - 2x Blue Popcorn B XX (MULTI) - 7x Blue Princess Nala XX (DF) - 1x CC, 3x Blue Radar Storm (WH) - 1x Blue Sarena Sky (MRG) - 2x Blue Stillmeadow Farm Honey's Nightstorm (WH) - 4x CC, 5x RC, 13x Blue Stillmeadow Farm Royal Blizzard (BG) - 3x Blue Stillmeadow Farm Storm Man (WH) - 2x Blue Stillmeadow Farm Night Storm (WH) 2x CC, 1xRC, 4x Blue Stratus Storm (MF) - 1x CC, 2x Blue Sweet Autumn's Caroline (BG) - 1x RC, 4x Blue Thunder Boomer X (WH) - 4x Blue Tree Frog Farm's Gracie (BG) - 2x Blue Winter Storm Austin (LF) - 1x CC, 1x RC, 4x Blue Standing stud at Elderwood Farms from May 2025 through November 2025. Description

Dancing Elk’s Mystery Unveiled, aka Dotty, is a beautiful, stunning, statuesque harlequin female. Color and color patterns can be found deep in her genetics, top and bottom. Dotty’s sire is none other than Red Granite’s Man of Mystery. She is half sibling to our harlequin appaloosas, Conspicuous (aka Spike), Baptiste, and Pinktessa (aka Tessa). Red Granite’s Man of Mystery is a beautiful representation of a harlequin, and at 127.2 follicles/square mm in density, he is the densest alpaca tested by Ian Watt in the US… and to quote Ian Watt, “Overall, this is the best alpaca I’ve tested in the US.” Dotty’s dam, Dancing Elk’s Nina is a statuesque, conformationally correct female. She is a Snowmass Tezcatlipoca daughter. Her fleece is dense, with tight bundling, brightness and coverage galore! Our Thanks go out to Dancing Elk Alpaca’s for allowing this beautiful female to join the Mule Train herd! We plan on breeding Dotty to the elite powerhouse, Stillmeadow Farm Blizzard for her maiden breeding. This pairing should create a little appaloosa rockstar!
