Avalon's Sharona Rose
Alpaca, Huacaya, Bred (Female) | Dark Brown
AOA #841125 | DOB: 10/11/2002 (22 yrs)
Sire: Avalon's Durango
Medium Rose Grey, 807722, 3/4 Peruvian
Durango's lovely medium rose grey fiber is one of the truest rose grey colors we have ever seen. While his fiber no long carries the fineness it once did, it continues to be wonderfully consistent, retaining nice hand. His conformation and balance are excellent, representing characteristics we want to pass on to future generations. As one judge put it, "He is so striking that you just WANT to place him first!"
Durango's crias have been wonderful with bright, crimpy fiber and exceptional staple length. Their fiber is even better than either their sire's or dam's...exactly what we want from a herdsire! Continue to look for them in the showring.

Dam: Sugar Rose
Medium Silver Grey, 81574, Other/Unknown
Sugar Rose is a lovely foundation female who has proven herself again and again as a wonderful and attentive mom with ample milk and straight, well-conformed crias. Sweet Silver Jubilee, her 1997 daughter, has won blue ribbons for her lovely silver grey fiber. Her 2001 cria, Avalon's Laurel Rose is a beautiful, dark brown multiple blue ribbon winner. She attracts attention and wins hearts at every show!!! "Rosie" is a favorite of her current owner, Sue Evon, of Sleeping Monk Farm in New Hampshire.
Although Sugar Rose is an older dam, she continues to produce outstanding, problem free crias! Her 2002 cria was a striking bay black/dark brown female (DOB: 10-11-02) that loved to lead the other crias as they stolted around the pasture. This nice female has gone on to produce a female cria of her own, Avalon's Sophia, who is now a Black Female Color Champion and multiple blue ribbon winner at 8 months old!

Service Sire: AFA Royal Peruvian Aristocrat
Description
Just look at what this dam can produce and you'll understand her value! In 2005 Sharona gave birth to her first cria, a dark brown/bay black female by our light fawn, premier herdsire, AFA Royal Peruvian Aristocrat. This lovely cria, Avalon's Sophia, has gone on to win blue in the showring in her first two shows and recently won her first Color Championship at 8 months old! She even took a third at the GMAF in spite of the fact that judge Mike Safley thought she was in the wrong color class and wouldn't allow her to move to the correct class! (He thought she should be in the dark brown class rather than bay black...in spite of that he still couldn't resist putting her in the top 3!)
Sharona Rose has recently given birth to her second cria...a healthy, handsome, dark brown male. Once again she has proven herself to be an excellent mother, producing good milk for her crias and being an attentive caretaker.
Sharona carries the color genetics to produce dark colored crias in black, brown, and grey. However, both she and her dam, Sugar Rose, have produced outstanding crias with our light fawn signature herdsire, AFA Royal Peruvian Aristocrat, so we plan to repeat the breeding with Aristocrat since this cross has proven so successful in the past. Look for another outstanding cria from Sharona Rose in 2007!
Thank you, and congratulations, to Martha and Shirley of Encore Alpacas (MI) for their purchase of Sharona Rose and Gabriel.
