CHAKOTAH'S MIDAS is our "Stellar" 5 time JUDGES CHOICE herdsire. We have been amazed and thrilled with his performance on the show circuit. He is a real head turner as all who have seen him at the shows will attest. Midas has the most amazing, dense, soft fleece of any suri we have ever seen. Everybody who sees him wants to get their hands in his fleece! Senior AOBA Judge, Amanda VandenBosch, said, "For those of you who think you can't have it all, this suri male does have it all!" "He is really packing on the fleece, from his nose all the way down to his toes." "He has excellent substance of bone, strong sturdy frame, and the phenotype all suri breeders are looking for." To top it all off, Midas is calm and easy to handle unless he's in front of the photographer! We are so excited to be able to offer his amazing genetics to alpaca breeders in the southeast in particular. Who says we can't compete with the breeders in the north! Of course, he will be available to any breeders with quality females who want to add his genetics to their herd. We are THRILLED with the way things are going with Midas' new job as a herd sire. Something fun of note, 70% of his cria have been the color of their mother. He's thrown every color so far except silver grey. The only reason that hasn't happened yet is that we haven't put him with a silver grey dam! Midas is our absolute favorite on the farm. He's a great guy!

June 2021 update: Switch gave birth to Alpaca Road's Ramblin Man by Electrofyre. Rambler was up on his feet and nursing within an hour of being born. He is a smokey brown weighing in at 19 lbs covered with tons of high-luster fiber. Within hours he started playing with the other cria and did not take any of their nonsense. Switch is one flashy young lady. She is a big-boned girl who has the locks, the luster, and the perfect conformation. Switch inherited the best from her sire, MacGyver's Hotazel, and her dam, Warrior's Natika of SBFS. What a firecracker that pairing produced. Update: Switch has been bred to Electrofyre for a Spring 2021 cria. Update: October 18th, 2019 Switch delivered Alpaca Road's Hotrod Lincoln and boy oh boy what a stunner he is. His sire is none other than Chakota's Midas. Lincoln is already displaying amazing luster and super vitality. As they say, "The proof is in the tasting of the pudding" Well Switch proved her true worth at Carolina Alpaca Celebration, where she earned a Color Championship over some really tough competition. They also say the big farms get all the banners -- well Switch proved that adage wrong. Her Color Championship means a lot to us as a small farm where we own both her sire and her dam. The judge said Switch owned the ring from the moment she pranced into the ring. We attended the NEAOBA and Empire Showtacular where Switch took home a well deserved first place in both shows. The judges were impressed with her growth and soundness for her age. One judge said that she could see the luster on Switch when she walked in the ring and there was no need to search for it. We took her to the Mapacas 2017 Jubilee and the 2017 Small Breeders show with judge David Barboza (Small Breeders) we swept the competition to take 1st place and then onto Color Champion. Judge Barboza was very impressed with her substance of bone for her age. He was also impressed with her regrowth and lock structure. Her luster was a given. Under judge Diana Timmerman we had a repeat performance of Small Breeders against even more alpacas and stiffer competition.

Description

When we bred our 3 time Color Champion, Switchback, to Chakotahs Midas we were hoping for the best and by golly Hotrod Lincoln is truly spectacular. First time out in both of the 2020 Buckeye shows he placed first. Unfortunately there were not enough entries for a Championship. Both judges commented on his fantastic regrowth, high-degree of luster and consistent lock structure across his frame. They both also noted his spot-on conformation.
