Loro Piana + Defiance & Best Man!

Snowmass Bells of Piana

HuacayaBred (Female)Beige
AOA# 35528845DOB: 8/30/20186 yrs
As her name suggests, Bells is a Snowmass Loro Piana daughter, and she is out of a Snowmass Defiance daughter. Then add a little Snowmass Best Man and a little Snowmass Sub-Zero! That’s what this girl’s got! Incredible genetics there! Bells' phenomenal herdsire, Snowmass Loro Piana, is in the top 1% EPD's for AFD & SF, and top 10% for SDAFD. Loro Piana was the best producer of fineness at Snowmass, and it is a lasting fineness – he had a 16 micron fleece at age five. Bell's has produced three gorgeous crias thus far. She stamps her head and frame onto each of them, along with a beautiful crimp style and excellent density. She has plenty of milk and she is an excellent mama. We're expecting another stellar cria in Spring of 2025 from our Irish Meadows' Reputation son, Corteva. Corteva has spectacular fleece, and he's a 9X Champion and Judges Choice winner, too! Bell's latest cria, Castor, arrived on 11/4/23 -- dark fawn male that looks pretty darn promising! His fleece may be the brightest ever produced here. While we agreed to sell him, we hope to still show him, and we have also retained breeding rights. DEFINITELY going to repeat this breeding, but she's been bred to our newest herdsire, Corteva, for her Spring 2025 cria. Bells' 2022 cria arrived on 10/2/22 and he's gorgeous!! Her cria, Iapitus, has an extremely dense and curly fleece with those little rolls down the back of his neck! And he has great bone... and that gorgeous head. Bells of Piana delivered a beautiful fawn female cria out of Snowmass Rock Solid on 7/7/21. She caught the eye of a n excellent farm in Switzerland, but we weren't quite ready to let her go.

Extraordinary Offspring: CNTRL Ganymede's Hannah B, has 22 Championships and 4 Judges Choice awards competing as a fawn female -AND- she is the 2021/22 #5 female in the Nation!! AMAF Islamadora, has 20 Championships, including the 2024 AOA National Championship, and received her first Judges Choice award as a yearling in Fall of 2023! StrongShepherd Juno, is a 16x Champion & JC male, and CCNF (arguably the top breeding farm in the country) purchased half-interest in this incredible male to bring different genetics into their herd! "This male shows extremely strong fiber traits that should be passed to his offspring...Bred to top notch females, you should expect many champions." -- Comments from Dr. Norm Evans' biopsy report SKIN BIOPSY was performed at 30 months of age by Dr. Norm Evans in December 2017. Of note, his 15x scan shows large fiber clusters uniform in shape and placement within his connective tissue. His scan shows only 4 guard type hairs from the 6800+ fibers in his 10 MM tissue punch. His true density is 86.75 follicles per SQ MM of skin. He shows a level 2 of 4 gland structure, with an average S/P ratio of 14.1 to 1, and only 11% of his secondary fibers are medullated which is rare since the average is near 60%. His 250x scan shows the presence of many round secondary fibers, and one hundred typical secondary fibers averaged 17.8 microns — at 30 months old!! According to Dr. Evans 30 months is the recommended age for skin biopsies and gives the most accurate values. Full report available upon request. While Ganymede’s breeding fee is firm, we can offer attractive discounts on any solely owned herdsire in a multiple breeding package. We also have females available that have already been bred to Ganymede or can be purchased with a future breeding to him. Please give us a call to discuss. Ganymede is Co-Owned with Rancho Inca Alpacas located in Navasota TX

Description

Soleil's fleece is fine with a very nice high frequency crimp — and her staple length is exemplary! She’s also quite a personable girl. We love it when an alpaca is equally valuable as a breeder and as an ambassador of the breed in our agritourism program. In 2 of her 3 shows, the judge indicated that her fleece is equal to those above her but her placement was based on her relative size. She has a compact but sturdy frame and we have no doubt Soleil is built well for production! Her sire, Snowmass Rock Solid, is a brown male who does not carry dilution. Lynn Edens said of her parent's breeding: “There’s a high likelihood of a fawn cria from this pairing and it should be a really nice one with good density, fineness and brightness as it develops, as these traits are coming from both sides. Rock Solid is putting a, ahem, rock-solid frame on his crias also – you can pick them out in the field by eye.” Soleil's dam is Bells of Piana, an exemplary Loro Piana daughter. Snowmass Loro Piana, named after the famous luxury textile designer, Loro Piana, was the first in the Snowmass program to produce a fleece finer than Vicuna! The Snowmass longtime goal of producing a high curvature fleece with fineness, brightness, and staple length was realized in this remarkable stud. He is quite literally the embodiment of everything the Snowmass program desired in White Huacaya, and is celebrated among their highest achievements in breeding for Ultra Royal Alpaca. His first histogram showed an extreme fineness sf 10.8 of microns, SD of 2.8, 0.3%>30 with a curvature of 67. Snowmass Loro Piana was also biopsied as a 21 month old white male showing a density of 115.25 follicles per SQ MM of skin! Soleil is current bred to2017 AOA National Light Male Supreme Champion, Man in the Moon's Peruvian Ganymede. To say we are excited about this pairing is an understatement! Color Genotype EeAa3
