HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Toledo is the densest alpaca to ever reside on our farm. He has been the signature stud on our herdsire row for many years now. A multi champion in the show ring, Toledo is compact with excellent conformation and stunning fleece. He still maintains fantastic character at age 13! He is so dense that he sometimes doesn’t come in when it’s raining because his fleece is way too dense for him to feel the water! Toledo walks like a prince and knows his job. You can call him in from the field when it is time to breed. Toledo’s bloodlines are rare, especially in a grey alpaca. Best of all, he has sired champions. He has two champion grey sons in Colorado who are now siring champions of their own. Don’t be put off by his age--Toledo can still do his job and has many years left in his breeding career. His progeny show how relevant his genetics still are in the American herd. Toledo is an exceptional candidate for ANY farm’s herdsire row! It would be a shame for him not to be able continue to produce the stunning crias he has proven that he can sire time after time. We are looking forward to the crias out of his son Pierre, and his daughter Mayana who is now on our foundation herd. Now is your chance to acquire a truly exceptional herdsire! We call Toledo “the Ace,” and for good reason. Toledo indeed is our ace, the epitome of an exceptional, elite stud—with champion progeny, and a couple of banners himself. He has already proven that he can throw champion crias—this is well established. Toledo and his outstanding genetics are something to be cherished. We are thrilled to have Toledo's bloodlines, which are very rare east of the Mississippi, to our grey and black breeding program--and proud to be able to offer them to you! In his limited show career, Toledo competed very well. He earned blue ribbons in halter classes, and he also received an unofficial "third" place in a championship class of 47 - having been sandwiched with the renowned Bisturi as Julio Sumar was determining the Reserve Champion at GWAS 2005. (ATV Adonnis had been selected Color Champion.) In 2006, Mike Safley commented enthusiastically about his fleece at GWAS, awarding him 2nd place, with first place again going to ATV Adonnis. At the same show, Toledo was awarded grey Color Champion. Toledo is typey, with a gorgeous head and a perfect bite. His fleece character and density are OFF The Charts! The picture of his fleece shown here was at 4 years of age! Toledo’s crias include some stars: Argenta Granite (owned by Argenta Alpacas): Granite won the Grey Color Championship at the TxOLAN Alpaca Show in February 2012. Chimera’s Orion Grey (owned by Chimera Ranch): Champion at the National Western and Reserve Color Champion grey at Mid-America. Though he is a compact male, Toledo has excellent conformation and coverage (and a fine personality to boot). His fleece is absolutely stunning. He has extreme density and gorgeous crimp.

Reja arrived at Fishback Creek Farm in summer 2009, along with her mom. She is destined to become a big contributor in our black and grey breeding program, or maybe in yours! Reja is registered as a bay black, but after her shearing in Spring 2010 it is obvious that she is a true black. Reja is growing into a good sized girl, and has nice square conformation and balance. Her fleece is showing good character with average density. She has a sweet and curious personality as well! Reja has a very nice pedigree that includes blended ancestries. Her grandsires are the well known silver import Peruvian Macusani and the renowned black import Bolivian Black Thunder. Reja is a good sized girl, and should be ready to breed in fall 2010. Her price includes her first breeding to any Whispering Willows Alpacas herdsire. Purchase her today and you can pick the sire for her first cria!

Description

Whispering Willows Alpacas reacquired this promising true black male from one of our customers in summer 2014. He has amazing true black fleece that would be any spinner's dream! Ernesto is named for Ernesto Illy, who was an Italian food chemist and businessman best known as the chairman of Illycaffè. Illycaffè is an Italian coffee roasting company that specializes on the production of espresso. Illy was widely respected, and considered to be "an absolute giant" in the world of coffee and espresso. Illy spearheading the company's research into coffee and espresso quality, as summarized in his son Andrea's book "Espresso: The Chemistry of Quality," written with Ernesto's assistance. Ernesto is part of a large group of male crias we had born on (or brought back to) our farm in 2014. Unfortunately we needed to make some tough choices as to who we were going to add to our show string and who we were going to offer for sale as pets! We have made the difficult decision to offer Ernesto for sale as a companion, fleece, or pet male. Ernesto has amazing true black fleece, but does not have the stature and presence we would expect to see in a true black herdsire. Ernesto is very friendly but does need some work on the halter. Alpacas are herd animals and cannot be kept alone, therefore we offer all of our pet animals for sale in sets of two or more--at BOGO pricing. Ernesto is being offered for sale with his sidekick Euclid for a total of $150. These boys have been buddies since they were born in the fall of 2013. These boys will make a wonderful pair of pets for the family wishing to acquire its first alpacas, or would be ideal as companions in a larger herd. They are currently intact, but are now old enough to be gelded, so could be gelded after purchase.
