........... RETIRED-REFERENCE ONLY........... We purchased Misty in 1997 when her daughter, Dawn Mist's Evening Serenade (Sara), was just a cria by her side. At the time we eagerly anticipated future black and grey cria from Misty as she brought to our breeding program a fine fleece and a pedigree with two grey parents. Unfortunately, we learned upon her arrival that Misty has suffered a dislocation of her knee during the breeding which produced Sara. This meant that she had suffered with her untreated injury for almost a year and a half before she came to us. This had left her with permanent injury to her leg that resulted in a conformational weakness that could not be healed. We have not bred Misty since, fearing that the stress of a pregnancy might cause her undue pain. However, we have since had her examined at OSU and have decided to give her one more chance to produce a cria for us. We hope to breed her this summer to our ultrafine young herdsire, Lance.

True black from two true black parents, Jag carries color genetics deep with black and grey. In addition to the rich black color, his fiber has wonderful hand and architecture...a fabulous combination! We purchased Jag to be the perfect complement to daughters coming from our three champion colored herdsires, Snowmass King Crimson, Lace's Peruvian Black Lance, and Avalon's Peruvian Granger. We've already seen the outstanding daughters coming from Crimson and Lance, so we knew we had to find a male worthy of them. We believe Jag is the answer. Unfortunately, Jag was not shown as a juvenile. Tucked away in a back pasture of a large farm, Jag went unnoticed. Well, that has changed! Since we purchased Jag, we have been eager to get him into the showring. He "came home" in early March 2007 and, as a yearling, had his first experience with a halter and lead. Only days later he was in his first show. Jag gained confidence and it has shown in the ring. He glides and prances as he enters the ring, capturing the judges' attention. NOTE! Jag came into his own at the Great Midwest Alpaca Festival where he was chosen as the 1st Place True Black Yearling Male. Judge Jude Anderson then selected him as the Black Color Champion, noting that his fleece was the "finest with good crimp, and lock, even from skin to tip, well covered, conformationally sound with great style"! If you are looking to find a top quality, true black male to breed to your girls, this is definitely a male you'll want to check out. Visit us and see for yourself. Ask about Avalon Farm's Special Program of DISCOUNTED "CUSTOMER" AND "PRIORITY" STUD FEES!. Description

Sara is a lovely, feminine female with soft true black fiber and a black/grey color pedigree. She is a problem free, attentive mother with ample milk AND, has had 4 girls out of 6 pregnancies! As if that wasn't enough, 4 of 5 crias have been true black when bred to black or grey males. Her first cria in 2000, Avalon's Mystic Melody is a medium fawn with white markings and crimpy fleece by our white herdsire, AFA Peruvian Nevar. Sara's 2001 cria, Avalon's Evening Sonata is a very nice, true black female whose daughter Avalon's Evening Rhapsody, is now in our foundation herd. Sara's 2002 cria, a beautiful true black female by a dark silver grey male, was born during a Camelidynamics Clinic here at Avalon Farm. We named her Avalon's Margaree which we shorten to "Marty" (Sold). Sara's 2003 cria was a handsome true black son, Avalon's Black Total Eclipse, by Black Velvet Silhouette, 2002 AOBA National Show 1st Place Adult Black male. Eclipse, Sara's true black son, earned a blue ribbon and Black Male Reserve Color Championship banner at the 2005 Wisconsin Spring Fling! Sara's 2004 cria was another winner...Avalon's Evening Madrigal, a true black female by multiple color champion, SA Peruvian Black Epic. Maddy is sold and now lives in Oregon at Alpacas of Tualatin Valley. And, finally, in July of 2006 Sara delivered a handsome, dark brown male by Peruvian Black Lance. This youngster, Avalon's Maestro, appears to have the crimpy, soft, dense fleece we were hoping to get from this match. Unfortunately, Maestro has scarring on his cornea, so we have decided not to list him as a herdsire prospect. However, we think he will make a highly valued fiber producer. Sara has been bred to our Color Champion Our Peruvian Black Jag (TB) for an August 2008 cria.
