In addition he received First Place at the International Alpaca Odyssey in CA in 2006. Most recently, he added another Get of Sire at the Empire Alpaca Extravaganza 2006.
Lafite's male offspring are highly sought after and very few are available. Prices have reflected the quality of these superior males. Even the half Accoyo males have sold for up to $70,000.
Baron Lafite represents what can be achieved in nine years of breeding experience with full Accoyo Peruvian Suris in North America. The Fiscos, owners of Humming Hill Suri Farm, traveled from California to New Jersey looking for the most perfect, next generation, Accoyo to breed with their famous herdire, Ramilo's offspring. They looked at almost twenty full Accoyo males before making their selection. Lafite's fleece and conformation are unsurpassed. He has such tight locks to the skin that one must say they are not locks but rather coiled corkscrews. Moneto descends from the crème de la crème of the suri world. He was sired by the legendary, now deceased, ACCOYO BARON LAFITE. This gorgeous sire, with an untimely death at 7 years old, racked up the Get -of-Sire wins even after death. During his career Lafite never received less than a Championship in his halter classes. His male cria, who share his phenomenal looks and fiber traits, are highly sought after yet very few are available. Moneto lives up to his legacy with his striking head, perfect frame and lovely fleece. Adding even more superior quality to Moneto’s genetics is his dam, Krystal’s Pocahontas. A champion herself, she brings a lot to the mix with her stunning good looks, extreme fineness, high luster and tightly twisted locks, even after multiple shearings. Her sire, Accoyo Caezar (deceased this year), a Uribe son, is considered one of the top U.S. suri herdsires known to produce elite cria. Their greasy luster, tight locking and bearded chins is his hallmark trait. This collection of ancestors was surely the perfect recipe for creating a knock-out stud such as Moneto!
One of Moneto’s distinguishing features is his soft rolling skin (SRS), a trait renowned fiber expert Ian Watt states is the ultimate goal in breeding. As you run your hands down Moneto’s sides you feel rolls of extra skin, which basically means, more skin, more fleece. And Moneto passes this rare and desired trait to his offspring. Each of his cria has the same extra rolling skin, regardless of the dam. But that’s not all they had to give them the stamp of the elite. Each cria has that regal, upright stance, gorgeous bold heads with well-locked top knots and bearded chins, and tightly locked, fine fleeces. Moneto has been extremely consistent in the high quality of his progeny. It is hard to tell one from the other, regardless of the dam. They are all simply stunning.
In addition to all of these great fiber and conformation traits, you can add in one of the more elusive ones...the ability to retain fineness and lock character after multiple shearing. Check out this boy's regrowth and relocking after his 5th shearing! He truly is better than he was a yearling!
