Dr. Jeri Booher writes: A tremendous impact was made on the breeding program of TIMBERLAND ALPACAS in 1994 with their acquisition of Pperuvian Accoyo Victor. Victor was the youngest male that arrived in the Peruvian importation of 1994, and in the words of the late Dr. Jim Vickers, had the “most beautiful” fleece and was the only alpaca in tht importation that he ranked as a 4+ in fleece. Victor’s fleece swept the awards in the 1995 AOBA National Fleece Show, garnering awards for Best Growth Huacaya, Most Uniform Huacaya, Best Crimp Huacaya, Spinner’s Choice, and Cottage Industries’ Choice. At the 1997 AOBA National Fleece Show, Victor’s fleece took first place for Adult Fawn Huacaya, and overall Knitter’s Choice Huacaya. In his prime,Victor sheared an incredible 14 ½ pounds per year with over 8 pounds of blanket, and a staple length of over 6 inches. Victor’s offspring, and each subsequent generation, have won innumerable awards in the show ring and in fleece shows, and include many first place and championship awards in colors ranging from white, fawn, brown, to black. The hallmarks of Victor fleece genetics are superior crimp, density, luster, fineness, and excellent staple length along with his ability to transmit all of these qualities in a wide range of colors. Although Victor is no longer with us, the trademark style of the “Victor crimp” continues to be widely known in the North American alpaca industry. Many of his sons are now premier herd sires in their own right. Residing on our ranch and now inheriting the title of “Premier Herd Sires of TIMBERLAND ALPACAS are Victor’s direct sons, Victor’s Hemiaccoyo Apocalypse and Victor’s Hemiaccoyo Grand Finale. Still co-owned by us, but residing at Clayfarm Alpacas is Victor’s Valedar. Other outstanding Victor sons who have also made their mark in North America are Victor’s Hemiaccoyo Americano, Victor’s Vaccoyo, Victor’s Hemiaccoyo Casanova, and Victor’s Hemiaccoyo Aristocrat. In 2012, Victor’s grandsons are also part of the TIMBERLAND ALPACAS Foundation Herd Sires list – Apocalypse’s Hemiaccoyo Coppertop and Ferrari’s Hemiaccoyo Kashmir each have their first 2011 offspring on the ground.

Description

• Proudly Co-Owned with Timberland Alpacas •
Dr. Jeri Booher writes: The genes of Hemingway are very evident in Valedar, and he is very close to being the splitting image of his grandsire. He is one of the densest juveniles to ever be produced from TIMBERLAND ALPACAS, and at five years of age, retains a fleece micron count of 19. Valedar's crias are doing very well in the show ring, and exhibit that wonderful Hemiaccoyo™ fleece with locks dividing up into tiny bundles, lots of brightness, crimp and fineness. A Valedar daughter was recently the highest selling female at the Parade of Champions Auction at $80,000. Despite his white color, Valedar does possess the colored genetics to throw color in his progeny, especially when bred to a colored female. Valedar very proudly wears the designation as one of the main foundation herdsires for Timberland Alpacas.
VALEDAR WILL PERMANENTLY RESIDE IN INDIANA.

Timberland values Valedar's cria so highly, that the majority of his female cria have been integrated into their highly successful breeding program. In the 2007 Herdsire Edition (Page 153) of Alpacas Magazine, Timberland states: "Victor's Valedar has always imparted fineness to his offspring, and at eight years old, still boasts a 21-micron, high-frequency fleece. The female offspring out of Valedar make great foundation females because of their fineness, have the ability to produce a very high frequency crimp, even if bred to herd sires that show a wide variety of crimp styles. Timberland has rarely sold its Valedar females, and has retained most of them as its foundation stock." He is a premier son of Victor (deceased) and will be available for LIMITED (10) outside breedings.
