Zeppelin is “Going to California!” He'll be standing stud at Epic Alpacas from November through April so reserve your breedings now! Epic Alpacas proudly co-owns this fantastic male with Delphi Alpacas and Prairie Moon Alpacas. Zeppelin is the 2013 AOBA National Black Male Fleece Champion and sire to multiple champion offspring. With his fourth fleece, Zeppelin won the 2013 AOBA National Black Male Fleece Color Championship. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg on his accomplishments! Here are some of his fleece statistics - Zep’s Histograms: 2009: AFD 15.7 / SD 2.8 / CV 18.0 / 0.2 % >30 2010: AFD 16.9 / SD 2.9 / CV 16.9 / 0.4% >30 2011: AFD 17.7 / SD 3.3 / CV 18.4 / 0.8 % >30 2012: AFD 19.8 / SD 3.9 / CV 19.7 / 2.1% >30 2013: AFD 20.4 / SD 4.1 / CV 19.9 / 3.0% >30 Zep’s Shearing Weight: 2009: 6 pounds total = 7.2 pounds annualized 2010: 9.5 pounds total = 8.75 pounds annualized 2011: 10.1 pounds annualized 2012: 10.8 pounds annualized His Cria: – His first cria to ever show, fawn Zeppelin’s Rainsong, purchased by The Alpaca Group, won a color championship at her first show! – We are honored that Zeppelin’s genetics have also been chosen by Pacific Crest Alpacas / Accoyo America. – Snowmass Alpacas purchased from Delphi Alpacas (our co-owners of Zep), one black Zeppelin daughter and 3 black females bred to Zeppelin; as well as a female bred to him from another farm. Watch for those kids in their show string in 2014/2015. Zeppelin has over 45 cria on the ground so far, and he is throwing a lot of black. His get from black based dams includes: – From 9 TB dams he has thrown 4 TB, 1 DSG, 3 BB, and 1 DF cria. – From 2 BB dams he threw 1 BB and 1 LF cria. – From 4 Silver greys (black base) he threw 3 TB and 1 MB. From light colors he often darkens the dam. – From 8 whites, he has yet to throw a white, with some beiges and even a TB – From 6 fawns, he has thrown a variety of colors, including DRG But regardless of color, with Zeppelin it’s ALL about the fleece quality – for example look at his daughter Tessla’s fleece at right – she sold for $18,000 at auction in 2012, shortly after winning Color Champ, Best Brightness and Best Hand at the Alpacamania Fleece Show (Tessla’s yearling histogram: AFD 12.7, SD 2.0, CV 15.6, %>30 0.0)! The pick of the litter in 2012 at Delphi was Deltana – a fawn with the kind of fleece you dream of. She’s off to the great breeding program at A Paca Fun Farm! His Lineage: Zeppelin is prepotent for that fine fleece with gorgeous character. His dad, PHA Peruvian Taos, a stunning Legacy son, had a 22.9 AFD at 7 yrs. Zeppelin’s mom tested at 21.3 AFD at 7 years as well. Zeppelin also offers correct conformation, impressive presence, size, coverage, and substance of bone. Zeppelin is full Peruvian and 3/8 Accoyo.

CCR's Pradera

Beautiful Outlaw Daughter! Color Champion Pradera is quite striking with coverage past her toes! She is almost completely solid and she has great crimp with nice staple length. Her histogram was 19.94 at over a year of age. Pradera won Grey Female Color Championship at SWRA Phoenix as a yearling and was part of the Get of Sire group for Outlaw that took First Place!! She is 1/2 Accoyo, 2nd generation grey on both sides. On November 13, 2015, Pradera had a tux grey male cria with exceptional fleece from our 2013 AOBA Black Fleece Champion, Zeppelin! In the shows, it took a little time for Primus to build up some steam, but in 2018, he shows us all what a great animal he is by won a Blue Ribbon at the AOA National Show, beating out some excellent competition! He is now standing stud in Wisconsin and will no doubt produce a number of amazing babies! Pradera is a great mom with lots of milk. She is currently bred to 23X Champion/2X Judge's Choice, Ringo Cloud, for a cria that will have color champions for both parents!

Description

Update: Primus is a grey maker! He has made grey even with brown and bay black girls without the grey parents. He has also made gorgeous blacks. One just born from a bay black girl looks just like him. He was born on August 1st 2024. Color Champion at 41.5 mths!! Judges have really liked him but CC has been going to the much younger animals. The fact that he is still so soft with consistency and long staple AS A BREEDER along with perfect conformation was appreciated! See his stats. only 2.6 micron difference between min and max micron!!! Primus has a very buttery handle to his fleece due to the consistency of his fine fiber and density. His yarn is incredibly soft-like a white cria fleece! His sire BMF Taos Zepplin is known for putting out blacks. He was the 2013 AOBA Black Male Fleece Champion. His histogram stats are very impressive starting with a 15.7 AFD and a 2.8 S.D. on his first fleece and at 5 yrs old still had a 20.4 micron and a CV of 19.9. I fell in love with PHA Peruvian Taos (his sire) when he was here in Wisconsin. Judge stated at the recent MOPACA show that he was a very close second and was very impressed with his long, healthy fleece that hand an excellent handle, something not often seen in greys to that extent. He has been showing as a 40 mth old this year and has had very limited competition yet had super nice comments from the judges that included "I doubt that there is a more robust male out there", "very little difference in micron throughout fleece", "perfect phenotype", "extreme staple especially given his age". Primus' first offspring is a black male from a black female. Super fine, dense fleece! Primus is going back to Nationals in 2020. He'll be 4 yrs and 4 mths old (52 mths) but I honestly can't see that his fleece has changed in the last 2 yrs! We have bred him a couple times for 2020 cria. We should have entered him in the mature males. Thought his retained fineness and no guard hairs would impress the judge, they did but she didn't take into account his being 1 1/2 yrs older than the others. Walking fleece he took 3rd! He is such a sweet, easy to handle guy.
