Update: Primus is a grey maker! He has made grey even with brown and bay black girls without the grey parents. He has also made gorgeous blacks. One just born from a bay black girl looks just like him. He was born on August 1st 2024. Color Champion at 41.5 mths!! Judges have really liked him but CC has been going to the much younger animals. The fact that he is still so soft with consistency and long staple AS A BREEDER along with perfect conformation was appreciated! See his stats. only 2.6 micron difference between min and max micron!!! Primus has a very buttery handle to his fleece due to the consistency of his fine fiber and density. His yarn is incredibly soft-like a white cria fleece! His sire BMF Taos Zepplin is known for putting out blacks. He was the 2013 AOBA Black Male Fleece Champion. His histogram stats are very impressive starting with a 15.7 AFD and a 2.8 S.D. on his first fleece and at 5 yrs old still had a 20.4 micron and a CV of 19.9. I fell in love with PHA Peruvian Taos (his sire) when he was here in Wisconsin. Judge stated at the recent MOPACA show that he was a very close second and was very impressed with his long, healthy fleece that hand an excellent handle, something not often seen in greys to that extent. He has been showing as a 40 mth old this year and has had very limited competition yet had super nice comments from the judges that included "I doubt that there is a more robust male out there", "very little difference in micron throughout fleece", "perfect phenotype", "extreme staple especially given his age". Primus' first offspring is a black male from a black female. Super fine, dense fleece! Primus is going back to Nationals in 2020. He'll be 4 yrs and 4 mths old (52 mths) but I honestly can't see that his fleece has changed in the last 2 yrs! We have bred him a couple times for 2020 cria. We should have entered him in the mature males. Thought his retained fineness and no guard hairs would impress the judge, they did but she didn't take into account his being 1 1/2 yrs older than the others. Walking fleece he took 3rd! He is such a sweet, easy to handle guy.

This is a hard one to sell since she embodies "foundation female". Such a solid girl on many fronts. Cahlua's parents both possess fine fleeces with extremely low guard hairs. Her sire Royal Adonis (Black) is extremely dense and was 26.7 micron at 8 yrs and a heavy breeder while her dam's lines wonderful density tends to show up more in their yearling year. Shine inherited from both sides along with great architecture of high amp/med-high frequency crimp. Very square conformation. Since she place 2nd in 4 shows that were highly competitive as a juvey I expect her to place better as a yearling once those accoyo density genetics kick in. She has a sweet personality too! I have a photo of her as a yearling standing stock still while an orphaned cria tried to nurse her! Yes! She had a gorgeous black male, sooo soft. I think he is going to be special! She has been an excellent mother. Unfortunately, before I could rebreed her to Cosmo (Orland Cloud boy Cloud Pleaser), Cosmo had an extremely bad compound fracture happen in a hind leg. He was not a good candidate for recovery do to his size and leader of the pack nature and had to be put down. She would make an excellent offspring with our TB male Seismic who has the most potent black and grey genetics! He also puts out excellent fiber. His main competiton at the shows he went to was Jacob Black who shares about 3/4 of his genetics. Jacob Black went to a heck of a lot more shows though. Anyway, We will probably be keeping Polson, Cosmo's only offspring on our farm. He is looking incredibly nice and is TB. 9/2/2020: Cahlua had a modern dark rose grey/maybe silver grey male from breeding with Seismic. Long staple and REALLY nice crimp on this one at just a few days old. His name? Hue Jackman! Jack has a very mellow, sweet personality. Hue Jackman sold in spring of 2021 as a future breeding male. Since she has thrown black when bred to black, let us see what she does when bred to our grey Primus. They have similar large, sturdy frames and their fiber should compliment eachother. YES! Cahlua birthed a light silver grey (maybe going to rose grey) from her breeding with Primus. We named this super friendly, gorgeous boy Primus' Prime Time as he was born in the morning of a day that was going to hit 95 and several hot days after. So it was great timing on her part. She is selling pregnant by Seriously Silver.

Description

Such a sweet cutie pie out of Cahlua who is 3 for 3 in doing the sire's color. PT is a Primus son that is very exciting to watch grow as his fleece is absolutely extraordinary. Clear grey. Five males born this summer so we'll be busy at the shows. Especially in the grey classes.
