We weren't even looking to purchase another herdsire when we saw Shanghai. He looked terrific from far away in the field. We then got up close and put our hands on him and were in awe of the density, fineness and soft handle of his fiber. We learned he is a Caligula grandson and an El Patron son, we then knew that he had to go home with us. Mary (Mary's Alpacas) said, "Shanghai had never been shown because of all the males born during that period. I'm sure he would have done well." The decision to add him to our herd was confirmed at both the 2006 Virginia Classic and the 2006 MAPACA Jubilee. In these shows he placed 2nd against many animals much younger than himself. The judges loved his conformation and couldn't believe how soft and dense his fiber was at age 7. They told the audience that breeding for fiber longevity and lingering fineness should be the goal of every alpaca breeder. We are so proud to tell people he belongs to us. He is now retired from the show ring and focuses on breeding. (He is especially good with maiden females.) Shanghai has 23 ARI registered offspring. Of these, 13 are females. Several of his female offspring have been added to our foundation herd due to their beautiful conformation and fiber. (All IGGs were over 2000.) These are amoung the best crias ever produced on our farm. Call today and make an appointment to come and put your hands on this wonderful prolific male (and his offspring that we have added to our herd) for yourself. You will definitely want to add these genetics to your herd.

9/29/10 Ava gave us a second amazing Nobility female cria named Nobility's Golden Girl, aka Goldey. She is conformationally perfect. The crimp and density of her fleece is amazing. We have already sold Goldey and expect another cria in June 2013. 10/7/09 Ava gave us an incredibly strong and crimpy female cria. The cross between her and the service sire's, AML Nobility, genetics is spectacular. The cria's name is Nobility's Royal Morgaine. Avacada (Ava) is a beautiful half Accoyo female out of the multiple Color Champion sire, SA Accoyo Royal Avenger. Ava has an elegant stance and a commendable presence. She is conformationally perfect. Her fiber has a beautiful sheen and is very fine with a very tiny crimp. We purchased Ava because of her bloodlines and fiber characteristics. We have been extremely pleased with the fact that she has always been very healthy, a great mom and is easy to handle. Avacada had her first baby on 5/22/07. We always watch very closely as the mom's come close to their due dates and this is especially true of our maidens like Ava. Well Mike was watching her linger a little longer than normal over the poop pile, turned to say hello to someone, turned back and there was a baby on the ground. No birthing issues with Ava! The baby is a very strong male weighing 18.3 pounds. He was up and nursing in 1/2 hour. We named him Samari (see picture) out of Shanghai. Mom let him nurse right away and is very attentive. (FYI his IGG was 3450.) I love great alpaca moms and you will, too. We love Ava's crias so much that 3 from previous births still reside on the farm. Please come and check them out, too. Ava has been bred for a third time to our multiple Blue and Color Champanion ribbon winner, AML Nobility. In addition to that breeding, Ava's purchase price includes another breeding to any of our incredible selection of herdsires. Please call today for an appointment to see Ava and her new cria in person. You will be glad you made the trip.

Description

Shanghai's Samari is conformationally perfect like his sire Shanghai, his grandsire El Patron and great grandsire Caligula. With the addition of the wonderful traits of fine, soft, bright fleece added by his dam Avacada (out of SA Accoyo Royal Avenger) he is a complete package. Samari is well trained and handles well on a lead or by hand. He has a great personality (calm and gentle) and will make a perfect herd sire for a young alpaca farm. Please call today and make an appointment to put your hands on his lovely fiber for yourself. You will also see the combination of his Accoyo/Alionza bloodlines at work as he moves in the field. Unfortunately Samari was not shown as a juvenile or yearling. This was due to our circumstances at the time. So at his first show, the 2011 MOPACA Show in Kansas City, MO, in a very tough class of 10 white males with Samari being the oldest of the 2 year and older class he came in 6th. Judge Tim Lavan said he was pleased to see a male of Samari's age holding his fineness and wonderfully soft hand. Mr. Lavan said that he was proud to present him a ribbon. We were proud, too. So, he should have been shown at a younger age. We are sorry we missed showing him. But, what a great accomplishment at almost age four. Next is breeding! SPECIAL NOTE: We have donated Samari and Cupid's Icarus to the Cattle Barron's Ball and Auction of Southwest Missouri. This is the American Cancer Society of South West Missouri's Largest Fund Raising Event. We are sure they will create a great donation for this worthy cause. Come out and bid on one or both of these great studs. They sell with all of the Morning Moon Alpacas guarantees. If you purchase Samari and/or Icarus prior to the auction we will donate the proceeds to the Cattle Barron's Ball.
