Caligula Grandson says it ALL
MFG Shanghai
Alpaca, Huacaya, Herdsire (Male) | White
AOA #811666 | DOB: 9/16/1999 (25 yrs)
Sire: Peruvian El Patron
811666<--ari-->White<--color-->1/2 Accoyo 1/2 Solocota. He is upgrading anyone he has been bred to. Patron let's All COLORS thru (his dam is medium fawn). He was extensively advertised in the late 90's. Just the other day I was showing males to a visitor. "Tell me about that one" he said pointing at Patron's elegant stance on the hillside. "That's El Patron" I said proudly gazing at this very intelligent/willing macho. With a smile my visitor said, "He's beautiful and has...how would I say it...a calm overpowering presence that says I am the one." You know, he's right. Always gentle with the females and babies...and rarely has to spit to get his way with the males. Sired by one of the most renowned males in Alpaca history . . . ACCOYO Caligula. El Patron was part of the winning group of offspring to win the Get of Sire for Caligula in 1998. He's older now but he's wonderful genetics still have years of progeny left. He's strong and healthy. Strongly standing at stud at Mary's Alpaca. <--description-->
Dam: Peruvian Concha
811666<--ari-->White<--color-->This full Peruvian of Rural Alionza female is everything someone could ask for in a dam. She has excellent conformation, beautiful fiber, lots of milk and an easy time with birthing.

Description
We weren't even looking to purchase another herdsire when we saw Shanghai. He looked terrific from far away in the field. We then got up close and put our hands on him and were in awe of the density, fineness and soft handle of his fiber. We learned he is a Caligula grandson and an El Patron son, we then knew that he had to go home with us. Mary (Mary's Alpacas) said, "Shanghai had never been shown because of all the males born during that period. I'm sure he would have done well."
The decision to add him to our herd was confirmed at both the 2006 Virginia Classic and the 2006 MAPACA Jubilee. In these shows he placed 2nd against many animals much younger than himself. The judges loved his conformation and couldn't believe how soft and dense his fiber was at age 7. They told the audience that breeding for fiber longevity and lingering fineness should be the goal of every alpaca breeder. We are so proud to tell people he belongs to us. He is now retired from the show ring and focuses on breeding. (He is especially good with maiden females.)
Shanghai has 23 ARI registered offspring. Of these, 13 are females. Several of his female offspring have been added to our foundation herd due to their beautiful conformation and fiber. (All IGGs were over 2000.) These are amoung the best crias ever produced on our farm.
Call today and make an appointment to come and put your hands on this wonderful prolific male (and his offspring that we have added to our herd) for yourself. You will definitely want to add these genetics to your herd.
